ARGH! What a week! My back hurts!
SO anyway, I saw "Underworld" the other day. Man, did I hate it. It was the kind of vampire movie that just bores me to tears. The kind of movie where the vampires walk around in a mansion (that looks exactly like Wayne Manor in the Batman movies) and say things like, "You have awoken the elder. H ewill lead our order to victory." and crap like that. I hate Vampire movies like that. That is part of why "Interview with the Vampire", and "Queen of the Damned" made me want to kick in my television screen.
The Vampires in "From Dusk Till Dawn" and on "Buffy" and "Angel" are so much cooler then the boring gothic "beautiful freak" vampire BS that these kinds of movies try to force feed you.
And then there are the Werewolves:
Ok kids, didn't we learn from the terrible "American Werewolf in Paris"? CGI werewolves look FAKE! CGI is a great tool for special effects, but werewolves are very hairy, and hairy creatures look very fake in CGI. Also, it's just abusing the CGI because the technology and know-how to create werewolf make-up has been with us since the 1940s when Lon Chaney Jr. Starred in "Wolf Man". Rick baker perfected it in 1980's "American Werewolf in London". Why mess with success? The CGI Werewolves look fake in "Werewolf in Paris", and they look fake here too.
Thank God there was a new episode of "Angel" on last night. An hour of great vampire entertainment was all I needed to get the taste of the bad vampire movie out of my mouth. And guess what? Next week there is a werewolf on "Angel". If I can just hold out a week I can get the bad werewolf taste out of my mouth, too.
I am certified in CPR now. Let's all do the dance of Joy.
