MUSE-ings

My voice is kind of hoarse. My ears are still ringing. Concert buzz!

MUSE just blew me away. I don't remember the last time I got goose bumps watching a concert. Okay, I admit I remember the last time, it was Nov. 11, 2006, 5 japanese guys? But this is sooooooooooooo DIFFERENT!

AND it was just so much more special because I had the chance to interview drummer Dominic Howard. Yes, I had my ten minutes with him in a suite at the WHotel. Hahaha!

I wasn't nervous about the Muse interview until I got to the posh WHotel (really futuristic boutique hotel beside WalkerhillHotel, where all the celeb weddings are usually held). I had to wait around 40 minutes for the interview, but when I went up to the suite, I suddenly felt nervous. The media people were herded inside-- TV reporter to interview Matt, another magazine reporter to interview Chris and me to interview Dominic.

While waiting, I spotted Dominic & Matt Bellamy (!!!) just casually chatting across the room. Matt, who has been voted sexiest guy in the UK, looked smaller than I expected and he seemed pretty laidback.

I sat in one of the red chairs at the dining table, as the PR guy reminded me I had only 10 minutes. Then Dominic came over. He was wearing a black blazer, black skinnys and his dirty blonde hair all mussed up. He was soooo thin! And he really looked the part of a cool, edgy Brit rock star!

Before I started the questions, I just had to tell him I was a big fan of the group! Dom nicely said, thank you! Waaahhh! He smiled soooo nicely I almost forgot I was a serious reporter. *swoon*

I quickly asked my questions (10 minutes is nothing when doing interviews) and he answered them well! He was nice and easy to interview. Before I knew it, the PR guy caught my eye and told me to ask my last question. Argh!

"Um... I just have a last question," I said.

"Go ahead," Dom said.

"Um... can I have your autograph?"

He laughed and said YES!

After the interview, he shook my hand and said Cheers! (I am still kicking myself for forgetting to bring my camera! )

Later that evening, it SNOWED. It was a virtual snow storm outside. I met up with DS for the concert. The snow was pretty, but at the same time is sucked because we didn't have umbrellas or anything. Snow was soooo NOT in the weather forecast!

Muse was 45 minutes late, but once they appeared on stage, everyone just started screaming and jumping up and down, fists in the air. DS & I were in the press area, which was probably the only place where people were sitting down. But we were just headbanging and screaming like the rest of the crowd.

I just love the lights, the music, the screaming, the big screen showing closeups of Dom, Chris and Matt. DS & I agreed Matt is SEXY! He is so darned sexy when he's up there playing his guitar and tickling the piano keys and singing his heart out. No wonder they're the best live act in the UK today. Too bad there wasn't a lot of Dom close-ups!

I was thrilled to see them perform Take a Bow, Starlight, Supermassive Blackhole (awesome!!!!), Knights and of course, Time is Running Out. There was a lot of songs (I'm still too buzzed to remember all the titles), but the concert ended around 10:00, they returned for another 30 minutes for an encore. I was disappointed the guys were not saying much to the crowd, except for Annyonghaseyo and Saranghaeyo Seoul and Kamsahamnida.

When Dom asked the crowds to bring out their mobile phones, it seemed no one heard him or understood him. He wanted to see the cellphones lighting up in the crowd. Not many people heard that. Or maybe they were just scared of the security people who kept swatting away people's camera phones and cameras. (like me!)

Those huge white balloons appeared at the end. The moshpit looked soo crowded and crazy. I would never want to be in the moshpit though. Teenage guys were slamming against each other and everyone was screaming like mad.

DS said she was kinda disappointed the show was too short because she heard that in Malaysia, there were three encores!

But  I'm not complaining much. I'm just totally content to have seen a fantastic concert!

Hands-down one of the best concerts I've ever seen period. MUSE ROCKS MY WORLD.

concert, muse, life
