GREEN DAY!
Billie Joe Armstrong is one of my favorite rockers of all time. I had a big crush on him when Green Day first came out. So I was obviously over the moon with excitement when it was announced Green Day was coming to Korea! I ended up buying the tickets with a friend, and our seats weren't really that good, but we were just happy we even got tickets!
I was so surprised to see so many people at the Olympic Gym. It was almost sold-out, 11,000 tickets! There were some young kids in the crowd, which made me wonder if they were even born when Green Day first came out! LOL!
The concert began with someone in a pink bunny costume staggering around the stage in a drunken daze. Whoever it was, it was pretty funny.
Then finally Green Day came out! The first song was 21st Century Breakdown! They were just absolutely electrifying. Crazy! Everyone was on their feet and jumping and screaming.
I was surprised how Billie Joe would pick random people in the crowd and bring them on stage to rock with them. The funniest part was when a girl suddenly grabbed Billie and kissed him on the lips! OMFG! After that she mumbled something to Billie who said, "what? You deserve to die?" LOL! Turned out she said, 'i deserve a stage dive.'' And she did do a stage dive!
There were so many highlights from the concert. Seriously, this was like THE BEST show I've ever been to. The energy was so crazy at the Green Day show! Maybe it was also because of BIllie Joe's craziness that made the show so much better. He would turn a hose on the crowd, run around with a green boa, fire a tissue paper gun in the air... so punk-like!
For a bunch of 30 something guys, Green Day can still rock. And heck, Billie Joe still looks like that smart alecky, punk ass kid from the 90s. But so much hotter! We were so jealous of the girls who could run up and hug him! Not that I'll be doing that though.
All those songs brought back memories: Hitchin a Ride, Brain Stew, Basketcase, She... There were so many good songs! I can't believe how long the concert was. It ran over 2 1/2 hours!
The best part was when Billie Joe did an acoustic set Last Night On Earth, Wake Me Up When September Ends and Good Riddance (Time of Your Life). His voice is just so good, no hint of age at all.
"It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life."
I could definitely say I had the time of my life at the Green Day concert.
