I started my new job as a Dell Customer Service Tech on monday. On Tuesday that job ended. We are now "Dell On Call Agents". It's the Speed of Dell people. The Speed of Dell.
I've learned some really cool things about this company. The Top 10 are
1)The chairs are insanely comfortable.
2)The Cubes are spacious and roomy
3)The training is good so far and the programs and databases we have access to are well written and user-friendly (apparently this is the opposite of anywhere else anyone in my class has worked)
4)Dell keeps no inventory, which is why your computer is so cheap. It is assembled from parts picked off trucks in under an hour after the order is received.
5)Things change FAST around here. I mean like, during the working day. We're seeing revisions to our Scope of Support already.
6)I sat next to good people. They are nice. One reminds me HEAVILY of Tucker Max. This is good.
7)Dell has an amazing benefits package. I can't wait until my Manpower contract is up and I'm a badged Dell employee.
8)Coffee is 25c in the lunch room. It is VERY good coffee. I am in heaven.
9) New City Suburbs is roughly a block away WEWT! WEWT!
10)Dell seems to actually care about it's customers and employees. We are encouraged to actually find a solution and help the customer. Handle Times aren't even part of our Metric. This amazes me.
So yea, from the above list you can see I like where I am now.
I'm actually happy. I don't mind dealing with customers. I love being able to help people. I work for a pretty cool company and the people around me are all pretty interesting.
The only downside to everything is the 3 weeks of training in a classroom is BORING. But I'm learning so I won't complain. I like learning useful things.
McDonalds will see the last of me this weekend, I fully intend to break policy and bring in a stero and my own music. McRadio BE DAMNED!!!
I'm heading to New City on Saturday after work again. I really really like it there, I keep meeting cool people. To see these cool people go to
http://www.nexopia.com/gallery.php?uid=4911&cat=21617 (click the red X's. for some reason the thumbnails do not work. the pictures are there and will work once clicked on)
or you can just go to www.nexopia.com search for user "koi" and go through my profile. I have a blog on there that goes back a couple years and other random shit.
Nothing else to really rant about. I'm pretty damned happy right now.
