Excited?
Has anyone every really thought they wanted something, I mean.. really really wanted something, then when they got it they weren't really as excited as they thought they'd be when they got it? It just happened to me the other day and it kinda confused me.
I've been trying to get a site lead position in Germany for some time now. As soon as it was made known that GD was thinking about opening a FTI in Germany I started asking for the lead position, or even a operator position. I've always wanted to go and I figured if someone else would pay for the move, why not eh? So I've been bugging my group manager for the better part of a year now. Tuesday when we have our conference call with all the other FTIs it got brought up. The guy that is in charge of all the funding asked my boss if the rumor he had heard was true. The rumor being that one of his guys is getting the lead position. Then one of the other folks who works with the install crew on setting sites up said something along the lines of that being old news. With that recent info we all feel pretty confident that I will be getting the position. What confused me though was I wasn't exstatic like I thought I would be. On the contrary, I just smiled and went back to sleep. I dunno, I guess I will be more excited when I see something in ink mebbe?
On another good note, I'm all set for my trip to Japan. Rail pass came yesterday and my Passport today. Just gotta wait a week or so and I'm outa here for a week and a half. I'll post up a bunch of pictures when I get back. Should be lots of fun. Lemme know if you want me to pick you up anything while I'm there.
