OK, the snow passed on and managed not to wreck our rescheduled GeeXmas party this past Friday night. I never got a chance to finish my planned costume (Coming soon to some other costume party near you...), but I decided to pull "Poison Ivy" back out of the costume closet, and with Lucy's help on my makeup, I managed to rock that out (with thanks to SparkPeople for my progress with my diet/exercise, so I looked better than my 28th birthday in the same getup). :-)
We managed to get food and drink together at the last minute, and we weren't as completely broke as we were two weeks ago, thanks to Pat's school loan refunds and happy pay check cycles. So, we had a good booze/food base before people even started to bring things over (Thanks to Diana & Jason for Chick Fil A Nuggets & Buffalo Chicken dip... and Brian for the Holy Grail Ale... and those who brought things for themselves and left them for us after they went home)! It was a whirlwind cleaning after I got back from the store, and I stuffed the cat into the back bathroom for the night.
Overall, the party was amazing, and terribly fun. I miss my DE buds a lot, and we made the plan for a Friday night so that it was at least an option for all the Rocky kids to come, and I was so glad that so many of them actually did! We had a ton of people in the house, and everyone seemed to get along great, although many people only knew one or two other guests. I hope people made friends as well as had fun with old friends. I sure did. We popped in "Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog" in tribute to the party's "Evil League Of Evil" theme, and that went over well, with many singing-along (go fig), and enjoying the mood. We popped in Austin Powers for some more Evil Villain style background noise, then broke out the Beatles RockBand/Guitar Hero for a while... always a crowd-pleaser towards the end of the evening. :-)
I wanted to invite Michael Yates and the other fangirls girls from "Forever Wednesday" (my webseries, which began filming THIS WEEKEND! Yay!)... But I wasn't really sure about the best way to get the invite out before Friday came along. I didn't even get Michael added to my facebook until today. So, I'm sorry Bunny & Michael... You will certainly be invited 100% to the next one!! There are exciting things going on in the world of Forever Wednesday though... So everyone keep your eye on www.watchforeverwednesday.com. It's not up yet, but in about a month or so there should be something *really* special and fun going on there. :-)
I know I don't post much, but things are moving along. I've been busy with band gigs and karaoke nights... on nights when I'm not actively participating in musical pursuits, I've been really working hard on keeping my workout and diet regimen on track. Also, I've been excitedly awaiting work on the webseries... Did I mention that I'm excited about this project? I currently have a "teaser" for the series posted as my facebook default photo right now. ;-)
Anyway, GeeXmas was a blast. I'd love to make this a REAL yearly event... I guess it's the 2nd year that really is the test of whether or not it is a cool enough party to become an annual thing. But the fact that we had so many people show up, and let us know they had a great time this year, and that no fewer than 3 people from last year's party asked us "When's GeeXmas this year?!" before it was even 2010... is a pretty good indication that we'll be bringing it back.
Happy GeeXmas week, everyone!
