It turns out that PHP is not as interesting as I thought it would be... it's a useful tool, and I believe I can prototype with it, but I'm not really that interested in building web pages. I'm more interested in playing with data. I'm an analyst to the core. I think my friend Brian, the co-owner of my fantasy baseball team, would agree with that. He has often said that I'm pretty good at finding the story within numbers, and making that story relevant. Of course, I'm more eloquent than Brian, so that's not exactly how he phrased it. :-)

(Definitely need to tell him to read this post. hehe)

Therefore, it's about time to make a decision about where I want to go. To that end, I'll be firing up the job hunt. I'll center my efforts on the Reno/Carson City area, with some residual effort toward Portland. I'm not writing Portland off yet, because I have had some useful chatting with a recruiter up that way, but Reno will be the main thrust of my efforts. And referring back to Brian for a second: Reno to Poway should be an interesting drive for our midsummer team meeting!

Of course, I am not very bright... once again, just like 2003, I'm looking for a gig when the economy is not precisely stellar. The 'R' word has finally manifested in economic circles. It may well be that I'll be flipping burgers before landing a 'professional' gig. Be that as it may, it's time to start looking in earnest. Or Reno, rather. I wonder if Reno maybe has a suburb called 'Earnest'?

I really have nothing to add other than that. Nobody wants me to post about WoW, so without stories of odd coworkers, I really have nothing to yammer on about. Hopefully, before long, I'll have stories about amusing coworkers... provided they're not stories like that of "Luther Granpappy," eh, scothen_krau?
