christian's away again

I dropped Christian off at the airport this morning. He's heading to Oaxaca as we speak, on his third leg of delayed flights. Speaking of delays, we got to taste the peak of Hartford rush hour this morning, made worse by some rain. We managed to avoid some bad congestion thanks to the HOV lane, but it took me over 2 hours to get to Smith in the end and that would be more if I didn't have the HOV benefit. I'm just glad I don't have to do that on a regular basis!

I had some meetings at Smith, signed some reimbursement forms, and had lunch with Anne and Danielle. This was the second to last time I'll see Danielle before she moves to England :-\

I've been going nuts trying to get my slides finished for San Diego. I feel really bad about how long it's been taking me, since Scott and Vadim are waiting on it and the REU starts this coming week. Why haven't I finished my talk?! Why have I been such a poor worker this past week?

On Saturday I'm heading to my parents' house with Carmen. It'll be her first time outside of our apartment since we picked her up at the shelter. She'll be there a week while I'm in San Diego. Both Christian and I are nervous about how she's going to take it and we're especially worried about her getting outside. Hopefully our worries are unfounded -- I keep reassuring myself that Carmen is good so long as she's not lonely and my parents will be keeping her company.
