Today's thesis defense was followed by a proper "pot de thèse" (thesis celebration), featuring lots of champagne, fine wine, olives, caviar and creme filled pastries. I ask, what is this savage country from which I come? In the US they don't know how to properly celebrate a well-defended thesis.
