Gotta get me some soul pills

pirate_artist came over tonight to watch some movies. We opened up a bottle of Bajtra, which is an alcohol I brought back from Malta two years ago. We decided it was high time to drink it since sometime over the summer it had lost its rosy pink color and become completely transparent. The alcohol tasted quite good but was much stronger than we expected. It's supposedly a liqueur of prickly pear cactus with herbs and has a light cherryish taste that's not overly sweet and artificial like Sho Chiku Bai flavored sakes. Unfortunately it was a thin bottle so there's only a little left.

We started with a real B-movie, namely, Invasion of the Bee Girls. Mutant woman/bee hybrids are taking over a town by mutating all the women and killing all the men through sexual exhaustion. There's lotsa boobs on voluptuous females, but you'd also hope that there'd be lots of good looking horny young guys unknowingly meeting their demise. Instead we get a lot of middle-aged unattractive scientists meeting their demise. Oh well. It was enjoyable in all the ways a cheesy B-movie should be and well worth the $2 I paid for it. 6/10.

Afterwards, we watched an early Jackie Chan movie called Half a Loaf of Kung Fu. Karen left halfway through, but she didn't miss much. All you needed to know was that everyone was after "the Evergreen Jade and the Soul Pills". This movie had a lot more low-brow slapstick (getting kicked in the balls, poked in the ass, etc) than other early Jackie Chans. They also kept throwing in new characters to have more and more people to fight in the finale. None of the fight scenes stood out much. The heroes weren't fun enough and villains weren't evil enough. 4/10.
