Johanna's

Went to Johanna and Tim's with Christian last night to watch Colbert on O'Reilly. We would have stayed to watch O'Reilly on Colbert if it were on earlier, but with an 8AM section that just wasn't going to happen (plus, the busses would have stopped running by then). I imagine that the latter appearance was more funny than the first, because Colbert ( Read more... )

I forgot about the "duel" until I read your post this morning, but after catching up on YouTube, I have to say that I'm rather unimpressed with both exchanges. Zzzz.

Just watched the second one on YouTube now. The Colbert Show one was a little better but I agree that both were rather boring. I wonder if Colbert would have done better being serious on O'Reilly's show. But then again Jon Stewart did that tactic and didn't succeed too well at connecting with O'Reilly's audience. It's mainly because in a serious interview with someone he doesn't like, O'Reilly will say a lot of nasty things (e.g., about Stewart's demographic) to get the interviewee on the defensive. Then the interviewee doesn't have any time to really critique O'Reilly's position. Stewart tried to avoid this but you can't completely ignore all the attacks O'Reilly is making.

I will agree uselessly that they were not as explosive as I had anticipated. "The word" was pretty good on Colbert last night though. :0

Go to ifilm.com.
ifilm has the same owner as Comedy Central.
So Comedy Central stuff is off youtube. But ifilm has all of the Colbert reports and Daily Shows.

I thought the one on O'Reilly was more funny. Colbert landed some nice zingers there. I wasn't at all impressed by the one in Colbert Report.

Actually, instead of making you search the link, here it is for the word of last night:

aha, I remember iFilm from college, but had no idea it had all the Comedy Central clips. That's useful to know because even if you go to Comedy Central's website just a few days later, most of the clips are gone.

Both interviews were boring. Definitely a disappointment.
