busy week, busy week. I have much to update about Tuesday and Wednesday, but instead I'll just write about today.
Christian and I have new cell phones! We got a joint plan with Verizon, and I was finally able to get rid of my clunker phone from AT&T. You won,
eomsam, in our competition of who could endure our craptacular phone the longest. I can't believe you still have that thing! I probably talked the service rep's ear off with all my complaints about the AT&T service, from the annoying counterintuitive voicemail settings (no skipping messages or repeating them, no notification of when a saved message is going to be deleted) to the nuisance of Cingular treating AT&T customers as complete second class until they switched over to a new and worse Cingular plan. But now we have a joint plan, two new free phones (well, we had to pay tax on the full retail price), we have the minimum number of minutes and we're each paying half as much as we were paying before. Good deal.
One annoying thing was that I was walking to the dealer with the box from my old cell phone and at one point the bottom of the box comes undone and all the contents fall out on the street, right in the middle of an intersection! I quickly picked everything up, but somehow I missed my contract, which has me a little concerned since now there's a paper with a fair amount of my personal information just floating around Berkeley.
There's apparently a cheesesteak place in Berkeley! It's on University just west of San Pablo and it's actually pretty good. The atmosphere inside reminds me a lot of a genuine Philly cheesesteak place, right down to the swivel chairs and aged decor. That's a pretty good way to get my cheesesteak fix.
Had some interaction with Chapman today. We've decided to split the paper from last summer in two. One paper is going to have a pretty involved editing process, but the other is going to be really quick. In fact, we've practically got it all together now and we should be able to submit it before this summer's REU starts. That would be ideal.
It's hard to believe that I leave for Texas Saturday night! I have so much to do before then. For example, I'm going to see the new X-Men movie at 7:30 tomorrow.
