I keep running across all these threads on IMDB movie bboards that consist of these horrible flamewars between (usually) fundamentalist Christians on one side, and other people on the other side. Most commonly, this has been on the issue of homosexuality. I haven't even been trying to find these posts, and yet I keep stumbling on them. Hell, I just happened to stumble upon the page of some obscure movie called Porn 'n Chicken, and even there there was this huge 100+ comment thread about homosexuality. WTF? I swear, there is an ideological war that has really risen to the surface during this presidency, and I don't know when it's going to stop. I'm just shocked at how much of this just keeps popping up in my face nearly daily: the anti-immigrant email today, arguments about Intelligent Design, arguments about homosexuality, etc. When did America become so hopelessly indoctrinated? And I mean this as an indictment of both sides of the spectrum: I have heard some pretty moronic, bigoted opinions from both sides of all these issues. I just hate closed-mindedness so much, because what can you do with such a person? Maybe that's what frustrates me about these arguments so much--it's not the issues at stake, but the people whose minds are not at stake.
