CRIT NEEDED

Aug 24, 2006 21:09

Because of my somehow odd desire for another RP, I have decided to apply for
campfuckudie. No mean feat, but I am willing to go for it. I'm applying as Lute from Fire Emblem: Seima no Kiseki (or The Sacred Stones for all you English speakers). I was wondering if anyone could crit this before I send it in on Sept. 8 (in which case, does anyone know what 6pm EST is in PST?). Any advice would be much appreciated.

Your Name/Alias: Jun
Age: 14
Character: Lute
Series: Fire Emblem: Seima no Kiseki (also known as Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones) [link]
Character Age: Unknown, appears in middle teens (Fire Emblem gives no description of her age other than that she is “young”)

Canon: Fire Emblem: Seima no Kiseki is the 8th installment in the RPG series Fire Emblem. Following through the adventures of the twin Prince and Princess of Renais (Ephraim and Eirika respectively), the player can recruit many allies to aid the twins on their quest. One such is Lute, who is introduced with her friend Artur in Chapter 4.

Lute is a young girl who believes herself to be a child prodigy. She has a thorough grasp of magic, which she considers the only weapon worthy of her; all others are beneath one of her intelligence. Lute has spent most of her life in her room studying and reading massive tomes- in fact, she claims to have read pretty much every single book in the world. She is well versed in history, etiquette, and the different creatures that walk, swim, or fly on her planet, among other things. However, this enormous amount of studying has had an adverse effect on her- Lute is very awkward at understanding and expressing emotions, reacting in social situations, and is very clueless about the regular habits of human beings in general (e.g. cooking, sewing, etc.). Her way of showing affection is often through attempting to do some favor for that person, although sometimes that may not be for the best. (e.g. attempting to cure Artur 's arachnophobia by setting a horde of spiders loose in his room in order to "immerse him in that which he feared most") Lute often speaks in a very formal matter, and her vocabulary is quite large.

Because of her genius complex, Lute considers all around her inferior to her, since they are obviously not of her mental caliber, but has been known to stalk those that she considers “threats” to her superiority, in order to better discover their weakness. She is also very eccentric, and many people have trouble holding a normal conversation with the mage, as she will usually turn to some scientific topic that the other person would rather not hear about.

Sample Post:

This, my most excellent fellow geniuses (or all you…other people), is the beginning of a revolution for one mage-prodigy Lute, who will be recording the observations on the habits of my fellow humans (of course, they are not “fellow” as in “fellow intelligence” sense, but I think the term is close enough). I have decided to use this camp as my first destination in my quest for furthering human knowledge. (Or rather, MY knowledge.)

So far, all has gone as I, with my ingenious planning, have expected. Arriving was a simple matter- Thunder is such a terribly efficient spell to use against all water-based creatures (or anything else in my way- inferior apes…that will teach you to mess with a prodigy). Attempting to discover anything of value about humans, however, is another matter. The campers are all dull. None have been able to answer my simple question of, “According to the ‘The Glossary of Falibrian Entomology’, what happens to a chemida beetle once it reaches maturity?” I received mostly confused looks, and one fool even dared to ask what “Falibrian” was. I treated him to a nice lecture on the Falibrians and their importance in today’s world. Of course, he did not appreciate it, which just proves how terribly ignorant the world is on Falibrian culture. A shame- they were one of the more interesting ancient societies. (However, they were quite mistaken on what exactly happens when a chemida beetle matures, as my own personal research has proven)

There are, in fact, what are referred to as “zombies” wandering the camp. However, they are not really zombies. I believe my books call them revenants- ancient horrors that first walked the earth many millennia ago. However, it is confusing on how monsters that existed eons and eons ago could suddenly appear in this- pardon my language- “hellhole.” Perhaps they were attracted by some dark aura? But I digress. I would very much like to observe these creatures in what may be the closest thing to their native habitat! Yes, like their eating habits (so far, all I have noted is human brains, but I would like to know if they prefer any other type of brains as well), hierarchy (perhaps there is a “zombie” leader of most intelligence!), and social organization (such as, are they of the hunter-gatherer type, or perhaps more of the specialization type- either one would be absolutely fascinating!). Somehow, I feel that I would rather study these monsters than sociology.

…Ah, look, there some are! Excellent! I can see the pamphlet now…

Is it any good?  Lute is the only character that I know I can crack!RP well in, since, well, she's such a source of amusement in game.
