Adventures in Colorado

So this week I am attending a conference for my company in Colorado. This is a yearly conference that not everybody gets to attend. I had never attended before since I really did not care. This year it seemed that nobody wanted to go. But since it was on a resort, and I had never gone I had decided to go. Little did I know that there was some underhanded dealings going on to make sure I went. I was not supposed to know about that whole invention award thing until I got here. But that was spoiled by our CEO blurting out all the winners. Apparently some of the conference organizers were quite annoyed with him.

Anyways so I left on Sunday afternoon and came to a very cloudy and dreary Denver airport. I was actually amazed that my luggage made it to the baggage claim before I got there. Didn't they have like major problems with their baggage or something. Like your luggage went to Alaska and you were headed to Des Moines (which is close but not quite the same). Anyways one disaster was averted. So now that I am at the airport then what? That" what" is waiting outside in the frigging cold and wet weather for the bus for 45 minutes (the guy in one of our competitor's color shirt said 10 minutes. I knew I shouldn't have trusted him). So the bus came and off we went to the Keystone, Colorado resort area.

On the way to this area it started raining. Well it was drizzling before so now its rain, so no surprise there. Then we started going up. And up. And suddenly I start seeing the color of the ground change. "That is some interesting gravel there", I think to myself. Then I notice the trees. Yes they are white and now we are in full snow and we keep going up. I could see the front windshield of the bus freezing over, and just a small section of it visible. All the hillside starting turning white. Then the wind started picking up. It was really cool, but I was certainly glad I was not driving. After about an hour we made it over the top of the mountains/hills (dunno) and onto the resort, Keystone Colorado.

So I step of the bus into the resort with my luggage. Go up a few stairs in the entrance and notice, hey my heart sure is beating fast. I must be stuffed up cause it is getting kinda hard to breath. I swear it was like 10 shallow steps up and I was starting to feel dizzy. Having never really been outside of sea level this was not something I was expecting. A few seconds there and I thought I was going to pass out. So then I get to stand in line for like half an hour to check in. Standing still helped a little, but I certainly was not alright. I noticed that at the registration desk they had some chocolate. I sneaked a bar and gobbled it up. I really did make me feel better. That chocolate was a real saviour.

Then I went to dinner, found some friends and just talked to them for the rest of the evening. Then finally I went to my room, I managed to catch the last shuttle to the Lodge (which is where I am staying). It was snowing by this time and I certainly was not gonna try to find my way in the dark while it was snowing outside. They would have found my frozen cadaver the next day all cause I missed the damn shuttle.

The room is pretty nice overall. Though I had heard some people got multi room suites with living rooms and kitchens and stuff. All I get is this one hotel room essentially. Their guess is that my last name is early in the alphabet so after the ran out of rooms they gave them to people with last names later in the alphabet. Damn, I should have changed it to Pace after all.

Then I realize I have this massive headache and could hardly think straight. I called Loopy and talked to her for a bit, but she could tell I was completely out of it. I had thought I had packed some since I always keep them in my bag. But after ransacking my bag I had scored some almonds and allergy medication. I wanted to go to sleep but she made me go down stairs and ask for pain killers (over the the phone even). I was able to score some drugs and doze of into painful slumber.
