Title: A reigning champion.
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Implied character death [see if you can catch it]
Author's Note: So, since the somic is moving very slowly I decided to us my pokemon characters to fill this prompt. I may or may not make this scene cannon. But, I thought I should give them more then just a picture. Also, I think I might have missed the prompt entirely but I like how this turned out anyways. And yes, Krim's full name is Krimson. Aren't I awesome?

"Hey Krim, tell us about that place your Dad took you when you were young again. It sounds so pretty," Krim, turned her head. Lily was smiling and Vivienne nodded encouragingly. Ignatius looked to her, his flame collar was out and he was about to start the fire for the night, he shrugged his shoulders. He knew that she didn't really like talking about her Dad but, then again, she never really had friends before.

"Why not, Little One? It could not hurt." She sighed, well, if Ignatius want to hear too...

"Fine. But, no interrupting Lily. Seriously." The short-pink haired girl pouted and Vivienne laughed. Sarah, Vivienne's vulpix yawned. The green haired girl sighed and poked Sarah in the face, the vulpix in turn glared lightly at her trainer. Lily let out her Eevee and Togepi. After all, she was the youngest of their crew and her youngest pokemon loved stories, just like she did. One teh fire was made and everyone was settled, Krim began to speak, to spin her tale of wonder and awe.

"When I was younger my father use to take me out for many adventures. He was an adventure man, as my Mom use to call him. He could and would find adventure everywhere. His favourite place to find adventure though, was in a place called Unova. It's the only place in the whole world he loved to visit more them his home country of Johto. For most of the pokemon and places were undiscovered when he would travel.
As you know, I was born in the Unova region and lived there for some of my childhood. One day, on the eve of my eighth birthday my Dad came barging into the house, an excited look on his face. 'I found a castle Krim-" She paused. Her Dad was the only one who called her by her full name ever. So she shook her head and continued, Lily and Vivienne looked to one another wondering why she paused, "A real castle! Would you like to go for your birthday?' I smiled my greatest smile. My Mom told him it would have to be after the party and he laughed it off agreeing. In the back of my mind, I was too excited to even sleep. A real castle! I wonder what wonders would be there. And so after my party my Dad took me on his bird pokemon-" Lily stuck her hand up, Krim sighed.

"What Lilz?"

"What bird pokemon? Aren't you afraid of bird pokemon?" Krim scowled, she mumbled something about not being afraid, just an extreme dislike of birds.

"I don't remember. Unova had different pokemon there then here." Lily made a 'o' shape with her mouth and nodded. Krim relaxed and looked up to the sky. It was black with twinkles of little lights dancing across the inky blackness. She continued.

"The castle was in the desert of the Unova region. I hear its call the Relic Castle and is mostly under sand now, but when I went a good portion was visible from the surface. It had three really large spiral towers, along with some strange wall web-looking design connecting the towers. When we landed we immediately went inside the middle tower. In the under ground, hundreds of floating candles and their murky light covered the area. My father said that these pokemon would take masks of their previous lives and wear them to hid their shame, and sometimes looking at their masks, they would cry. They were strange looking these pokemon and their masks. Hold my father's hand tight I went over to one and hugged it, for its tears were such a lovely shade of blue.
The light from the candles suddenly grew very bright and I let go of my fathers hand. When the light faded, I saw that I was alone. Of course the pokemon were still there but, my father was no where in sight. Slightly afraid I took the hand of one the ghost pokemon and started to look for him. The passage ways were once majestic and as I walked it seemed like they were getting newer and newer until eventually I realized that the pokemon was showing me what the castle once looked like. It was beautiful. All the passage ways had huge sea-glass windows, ranging form every colour under the sun to the darkest colours of the ocean deep.
Still we continued to look, every once and a while, going outside to see that the castle was once by the ocean, and that you could hear the waves crashed against the rocks below. The further we went down, the darker the tiles went and the sea-glass windows became broke and empty. The further down we went, the less majestic the castle seemed and more like the relic it had become. Eventually we reached the bottom. The ghost pokemon let my hand go and the candle went out. It was so dark but, I could see the night sky, so I ran towards it. There was a stair case seemingly lead no where. I still had not found my father but, I could see the castle. It was once a bright purple, with accents of cream and the splashes of colour from the sea-glass windows. Once at the top, the castle seemed to disappear into the sand.
And I felt like I woke up. I was at the surface of the castle once again." She stopped. Lily smiled and got out her sleeping bag, and once inside with her Eevee and Togepi went immediately asleep. Vivienne also took out her sleeping bag, but did not immediately go to bed; Krim took out her pokegear and stared at it.

"Why don't you call your Mom? It's been awhile hasn't it?" Krim nodded.

"Yeah. I think I will, 'Night Vivi." The green haired girl nodded and curled up with Sarah who had long ago fallen asleep. Ignatius looked to his trainer, a frown on his face.

"Call her, Little One. It'll make you feel better." And then he too went asleep. She nodded, more to herself then anything. As to not awaken her group mate she got up and walked away from them, towards the beach. She had just beat Cinnawoods gym leader and they were heading back to Olivine City tomorrow. She took off her boot and let her feet hit the ocean waves. She would call her mother, later. Instead she closed her eyes and visualized what was around her.

The sand was gritty like most beaches, and the sun was setting in the distance, most of the whirl islands were visible but the vibe of coldness from them made her mid shift elsewhere, like the crashing waves against the side of the island. She smiled as the coldness took on the colours of the melting sun, pinks, whites, yellows and purples. She felt her sadness melting away and instead she was left with the emptiness. That was when she took out her pokegear once again and dialed her mother. It wasn't long until she answered.

"..Krim. Do you know the time?"

"Yeah...sorry." It didn't take long for her mother to tell something was wrong.

"Hunny, what's wrong?"

"Do you remember my eighth birthday?"

"...yes. Yes I do." Tears pricked Krim's green orbs.

"Do you remember what happened after?" Her mother's voice was comforting, it's moments like these where she wished she was at home, so her mother could hug her. She really needed someone to hug. She decided that she would hug Ignatius when she got back.

"Yes I do. I could never forget what happened after. What brought this out?"

"I was telling my friends the story about the castle. 'Cause before I briefly told them about the castle itself and they wanted to know more. I skipped over the part about Dad but, that doesn't mean it was easy." She could hear her mother sigh through the phone.

"It's not your fault Krimson. And it never will be, and remember this, after all that happened, his final thoughts were about you. He always loved you and I the most. We were his greatest adventures, now, enjoy your journey and get some sleep. Call me tomorrow when you beat the gym leader of..." She paused trying to remember where her daughter was now, Krim giggled, the tears wiped away.

"Cinnawood Mom, Cinnawood."

"Right! Cinnawood." Krim let a small smile on her face.

"I already did. Tomorrow we go back to Olivine City so I can beat Jasmine. I'll call you then." She could hear her mother's tired smile.

"Ah, good to know. Alright then, I expect a call from you at a normal time tomorrow! Good night hunny!"

"'Night Mum." And she hung up her pokegear. Still feeling a little sad she went back to their camp, wondering to herself why they didn't stay in the pokecenter. Ignatius was up when she got back, he sighed in relief when he saw her.

"Don't do that to me again Little One. I'm too young to have a heart attack." Krim laughed slightly and hugged him.

"Thanks for worrying." He hugged her back.

"Of course I worry. Your mother was very clear about me taking care of you. Now, care to cuddle?" She let out a real laugh this time and nodded vigorously and took out her blanket curling into him as she finally went to sleep. Vivienne smirked and closed her eyes, she would ask tomorrow and probably get ignored but, she would ask anyways,

After all, she cared very much for her friends. Her mind wondered a bit as Sarah shifted into a more comfortable ball, Vivienne patted her. She had to hand it to Krim, it was clear that the girl was uncomfortable with talking about the castle but she did it anyways, probably leaving out the stuff that made her uncomfortable. This made Vivienne think of home, or more specifically of the guardian tree of Lavender Town. The great Willow where her heart had once been broken and now is a place of bad memories and burned feelings.

She turned over to face the night sky. Her eyes narrowed at how much clearer they were here then at home in Kanto. Her mind went back to the willow tree again and she frowned, when ever she thought of that place her heart twisted and her mind went blank. Her lungs would fill up with bile and she would feel like hitting something with the strength of a Machamp behind her. It made her angry at everything and it made everything more painful.

She sat up abruptly causing Sarah to fly. Being a smart and aware vulpix she landed on her feet but she was annoyed at being woken up in such a rude manner, especially since it was still dark out. She was going to yell at Vivienne for doing such a rude thing (something she doesn't usually do) but Vivienne stood up and briskly walked away from camp, stomping the whole way. So being who Sarah was, she followed her.

"What's up?"

"That. Stupid. Goddamn-" She sighed in frustration.

"-willow tree." Sarah cocked a brow.

"Really? That's what got you so worked up? Honestly Vi, we left Lavender Town for that reason. Mayeb you should leave it alone." Vivienne turned to her vulpix and sighed. She angrily kicked the sand and dropped to the ground.

"I would if I could. But, you know what? When Krim beats the champion, because we all know that she will, she'll want to take the Kanto challenge. Which means I'll eventually have to see him again." Sarah sat down, Vivienne couldn't help but think that she looked so majestic that way. She turned to her trainer, her eyes full of understand and knowledge far beyond her years.

"Listen Bug[*], all you have to do is trust in yourself and us. We will be there for you whenever you need us. Including those two back there-" She pointed back to camp, "-all you have to do is trust us and fly, because you know you can." Vivienne looked out to the ocean.

Tomorrow is a new day and with a new day is new chances to succeed or fail. She smiled and curled her fist and rose it into the air. She would not let her self become a failure, and so, tomorrow's chance will be met with success!

"Alright Sarah, let's go back to sleep."

"'bout time." Vivienne laughed, feeling that tomorrow would be a better day.
