So, I'm not taking the CELTA course, at least not right now. Its too expensive and its not clear it would help me get a job.
I'm now thinking I'll go to Sweden for Feb-Mar ish to see Gerda, have some fun and lay the groundwork for looking for a job for the summer/fall. If the schools say they'll hire me if I get the CELTA, then I'll do it when I'm back here in April. I'd love if Gerda could come here possibly in May ish? And then, if all goes well, I'd go back to Sweden June/July when the visa comes through? That's the best plan I have now.
I did some preliminary research into English Schools in Sweden. It seems there's about 8, with some having many locations others just one or two. At least two said they were hiring, one specifically for the fall. A number said they required candidates have EITHER a degree OR business experience OR teaching experience. I've got at least two of those things - so that's promising! I'll call them tomorrow morning (afternoon in Sweden).
Also on the job hunt front I've started a three day course at the public library in Job hunting - networking, resumes, cover letters, job listings etc... I've done one day so far and its pretty good - especially considering its free.
I may be a little crazy, this whole chapter is most unexpected and serendipitous, but its also fantastic and I'm very happy :)
