- by which you may conclude that I took my car out for the first time on my own this morning. Only for twenty minutes or so for a trip through town and on to the high road but still - traffic lights, roundabouts, national speed limits, speed bumps etc. Even felt confident enough to stick the radio on (and now I will be spending some time making a driving mix CD - any suggestions gratefully received *g*). So all in all, feeling fairly pleased with myself. Admittedly, it was very quiet this morning which is why I got up early and took it out but that was the whole point. I have six hours of Pass Plus next Sunday - going to Blackpool!
Other things making me happy are the BBC Proms. OH MY GOD IF YOU DID NOT WATCH IT LAST NIGHT YOU SHOULD DO SO ON
THE iPLAYER RIGHT NOW. It was A Celebration of Classic MGM Film Musicals and SETH MACFARLANE was one of the special guest singers. He was BRILLIANT. I knew he had a gorgeous voice (and he's pretty cute - why did no one tell me this?) but he just ROCKED it. Not only did he sing "Singin' in the Rain" (which he did beautifully) but he and Kim Criswell did "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" from High Society and they were clearly enjoying every moment and made it so much fun. He and Curtis Stigers sang "Well Did You Evah?" which is also from High Society (by Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby in the film) and that was very good as well. Takes some balls to sing Sinatra and, well, he thoroughly blew me away. Awesome. He had a lot of stage presence as well - and the characteristic blossoming of umbrellas in the audience during "Singin' in the Rain" didn't put him off either. Totally worth watching for him, seriously. (and as a bonus, in the finale "That's Entertainment", he sings a few lines as Stewie)
