Or should I say 'Pet'?
I got nailed by a cat today. Three punctures on my right thumb. One was bleeding fairly profusely, but the other two where pretty small. I ran to the bathroom and rinsed them off and let them bleed out a little (bleeding out cat bites is very important; they tend to seal as the tooth leaves the skin and trap the bacteria inside, so you want to immediately drain it and clean it) and then held a cotton ball to the big one until it stopped bleeding, then I doused them in hydrogen peroxide.
I was close to slapping a band aid on it and going back to work, but The Boss insisted I go to the clinic for antibiotic perscriptions and then go home for the rest of the day and recuperate. Everyone else agreed. I didn't really understand, but this is my first cat bite, and wow ... who knew thumbs were so damn important? Thank Hekla I drive an automatic; it was hard enough going between Park/Drive/Reverse when I wasn't moving! Typing is brutal with my thumb and challenging without! My WHOLE THUMB aches, and is the size of a sausage, and feels like it's deeply bruised ... the bites don't even look that bad! :p
Antibiotics last five days. Thankfully my weekend starts tomorrow, so I have a couple days to get my thumb back in working order. :/
