Kill the Garthams with my glaive

I am thinking about having a marathon of 80's high fantasy movies. Would anyone be interested, if so please rank and argue back and forth about these.

The Dark Crystal
Krull
Labyrinth
Willow
Legend
Clash of the Titans

Please add any I may have forgotten due to the hastiness of this post.

Own Clash and the supa-dupa versions of both Legend and Crystal.

Haven't seen Krull in many, many moons.. Dragonslayer is awesome. Don't forget Ladyhawke, Jason and the Argonauts, Sinbad (Voyages of?), Time Bandits (cuz its awesome), and Baron Munchausen (er, Adventures of?).

Just checked it out: It is, indeed, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. Directed by Terry Gilliam, featuring Eric Idle, Robin Williams, John Neville, Jonathan Pryce, Uma Thurman, and Oliver Reed, among others.

Totally wonderful movie, three thumbs up. If you haven't seen this, you are worse off for it.

Is "Time Bandits" a High fantasy movie, I've always thought that time travel belonged more to sci-fi.

Well, there's big quasi-undead monsters, a guy who is Evil... like, that's his name.

It doesn't fit neatly into a single genre, really, and from what I've read, is part of a trilogy of films by Gilliam where Time Bandits represents youth, Munchausen is old age and... *checks*... the movie Brazil (which I have never had the pleasure of seeing) represents adulthood. Apparently the latter is a dystopian view of a future world that takes place sometime in the 20th century...

Apparently Gilliam refers to the three movies as a trilogy whose central themes revolve around coping with the harsh realities of life through escapes into one's imagination. I would say they all three qualify as fantasy.

As for forgetting Beastmaster, shame on you! And shame on me!

Nice try, but Sinbad, and Jason are actually from the 70's . . . this 80's fantasy, baby!
