Halloween 2015, Part 1

I forgot to update for 2014. I think we hit Pennhurst, a small (and really fun) haunt in Harleysville, and another one that I’m forgetting. Stupid brain!

For this year, so far we have:

Sleepy Hollow - 4.5 out of 5
This was the first time hitting this one. They have 3 events, like most places - a hayride, corn maze, and haunted house. The only thing that prevented this from being a 5 out of 5 is the understaffing of two of the attractions. Otherwise, this was a nearly perfect haunt!

  • Sleepy Hollow Haunted Hayride - They boast a 35 minute hayride, which is considerably longer than most others. The hayride seemed a little understaffed, but the actors had a lot of energy. They often climbed up onto and into the wagon to make their rounds. Since the wagon has a steel frame, they could be found climbing above you, sometimes dangling face down right above your head. They also made use of other tractors, sometimes threatening to broadside the wagon. I was surprised, since the tractors weren’t on rails; they just relied on the driver to stop quickly.
  • Field of Fright - This is their corn maze. They lead you through a short little building into the corn maze. They had a few animatronics, but most weren’t all that impressive. This also seemed a little understaffed, but the actors were pretty good. Randomly, they had someone dressed as Donald Trump standing among the corn, doing his “you’re fired” schtick. Otherwise, they had a few, nice little events.
  • Haunted House in the Hollow - Their haunted house was top notch. They had some nice little animatronics, some impressive illusions, great actors, and it was refreshingly interactive. From ghostly voices calling our names to our names appearing on tombstones to me being stuck in a box and separated from my group, this was by far the best attraction. If you decide to only do 1 event at Sleepy Hollow, this should be it.
