They tell stories of a time...a time of tears, and sweat, and blood...a time of trials, and triumphs, and carpal tunnel twinges...a time of hope, and aches, and gif...a time of seven days...
And they called it...
Hell Week.
That's right, lovelies, we're doing it again! A solid, adrenaline-fueled week of maniac devotion and desperate production, as every panicked KBB rascal is invited to cannonball towards the finish line. For those of you new to the madness, here's the skinny:
1) Set a goal: weekly and daily. You have exactly seven days to reach your goal. (Hint: Rough. Draft.) To do this you must also set daily goals. The daily goals can be in terms of word quota or finished scenes. What's important is that you must have your daily goal completed on the day it was assigned to. So if Scene #23 was meant to be ready on Thursday then Scene #23 is to be ready on Thursday. No excuses, no rescheduling. (If you know there's a day you'll be unable to write then you are responsible for getting that day's task done ahead of time.)
2) Check-ins: starting, daily, and final. You must post the planned schedule of your goals on opening day. You must check in daily with your finished goal. You must check on the last day with your success.
3) No excuses. You've got work, you've got tests, you've got a family dinner, a blind date, tonsil surgery, a meeting with Congress--but you must still post your daily goal. No, it's not very accommodating. Or nice. That's why we don't call it Fluffy Bunny Hugs Week.
Instructions
#1) Sign up. Comment below with your name and schedule.
#2) Post your schedule. This is among the trickiest bits of the challenge. Your schedule isn't just your guide and rudder, it's your HW contract. When you post it, you’re promising to deliver each of the day's assigned goals on the said day. Remember: Hell Week does not allow substitutions or late entries. If you are unable to work on a goal on its assigned day, then you are responsible for writing the material in advance.
#3) Check in at the end of each day with the promised goal. You don't have to post any material from the said goal, but you must check in to say the goal was achieved. We’re working on the honor system, here, so as always your conscience is your guide. (But be aware that we're watching your house. And your dog.)
