"With his dying breath" (refers to actual death), or "until his dying breath" (more of a poetic reference to forever).

Ah. It feels like it should be *to* for some reason. Not that I trust my feelings when it comes to English. I end up making up words when I do that.

"to" and "until" are similar enough that it worked fine with the dragon image. No worries.
