“The Boy Next Door” (1/1)
By Lisa Michelle
“C’mon, I’m dying to see the pictures,” Adam said as Kris took the iPad out of his messenger bag.
“Coming.” Kris headed over to the couch where his boyfriend was already seated with his arms outstretched. He tapped on a couple icons to make the photo album load up.
Adam practically grabbed the iPad away from him and stared at the first picture. “I like it.”
“Not too different from the way I dress on a daily basis,” Kris said, sitting down next to Adam. He pointed to the red and blue plaid shirt. “That was my favorite.” He watched Adam scroll through the photos.
“Wait, go back to that one,” Kris asked. “The purple shirt. Yes, that one. I think I should wear more purple. And see, I have my own necklace on. The one with the guitar pick. They said I could keep it on.” Kris bragged, before pointing to the photo again. “I like that braided bracelet, too. I got to keep it.”
“I don’t know which pictures they are going to use,” he said. “They’ll email me the ones they choose by next week.”
“I can’t believe they asked you to do this campaign,” Adam said.
“Well, it’s not like I’m a model,” Kris clarified. “American Eagle was looking for real people and one guy said I looked like the boy next door.”
“There weren’t any boys next door to me that looked like you,” Adam said. “Must be something about the South.”
“Must be,” Kris agreed.
“I like this one with the hat,” Adam continued. “You should buy that one.”
“I have tons of hats,” Kris said.
“You can never have too much clothing,” Adam countered.
“I know, since you have most of the closet space,” Kris pointed out. He watched as Adam continued to scroll through the pictures again, studying them like he’d never get to see Kris ever again. He looked a little sad.
“What is it, baby?” Kris asked.
“Nothing,” Adam replied. He sighed. “I wish that Diesel ad campaign worked out for me. Or that MAC ad, but Beyonce and Lady Gaga came to a deal with them, so that’s that.”
“You’re jealous,” Kris said. “Of me doing the photo shoot.”
“No,” Adam said, setting the iPad aside. “I’m glad you did. I just miss all the dress up and outfits involved in all that. That’s fun for me.”
“Hey, between the two of us, you’re the one that should be the model,” Kris said, running his hand up and down Adam’s leg. “You’re thin and gorgeous and pass all the height requirements. I don’t.”
Adam smiled. “Exceptions are made for real people.”
“Thanks,” Kris said. “Hey, I know it’s not clothes, but you’ve got that nail polish line coming out soon.”
“I know,” he said. “OPI said I could have some input into naming the colors, so that should be fun.”
“So it won’t be just black, black and black?”
Adam smiled at him. “If you weren’t so cute, you’d pay for that.”
“You’re just saying that because I’m a model,” Kris replied.
“No, you’re a real person,” Adam clarified. “The boy next door.” He moved closer for a kiss and Kris was only too happy to oblige.
“I do have some of the clothes from the shoot,” Kris informed him. “I think my ass looks good in those skinny jeans, but I really do need a second opinion.” He smiled. “You interested in helping me out?”
“Well, I can’t say my opinion would be objective,” Adam admitted.
“That’s okay,” Kris said. “The clothes are in the bedroom and I’m just looking for an excuse to get you there.”
“Sounds like naughty behavior for a boy next door,” Adam commented.
Kris got up from the couch. “Just because I’m the boy next door doesn’t mean I can’t be a little dirty, does it?”
“Define dirty,” Adam said.
“Follow me and you’ll find out,” Kris replied.
