hum dee hum
right, so all of this summer business is winding down awfully quickly. I ended up taking off my last day of work at fye in order to stay in los angeles a bit longer. Yesterday I got my final grade for my second summer class. 'A', no ifs ands or minuses about it. Later today is my last day of work at the cheese shop. It's the one year anniversary (complete with cupcakes!) so it's fitting in a way, and she might have a way for me to keep e-working throughout the year. we'll see! we'll find out!
on tuesday night i finally made my way down to los angeles. i drove down rose street around 1:30am, exhausted and ready to crash, not even worrying about the lack of electricity in my apartment. HA! how naive of me. when i walked in, i was met by a much more unpleasant sight than no electricity - try a giant chunk of ceiling on the floor. and a bunch of water. turns out the upstairs people are "crazy", at least according to mr.fixit. so tuesday night, as appealing as sleeping on a damp, moldy futon sounded, i called up my friend emily and she drove down to venice to pick me up and let me crash on her undamp, unmoldy futon. wednesday morning, nichole picked me up from emily's and we drove to venice, and nichole stayed with me the whole day helping me unload giant soggy pieces of plaster and insulation from the inside. our quests included: the biglots/99centstore/sav-on shopping center and a four-hour side trip to riverside. our joys included a hobbit-esque lunch and a dip in the ocean. nichole's pretty much the most awesome person i know, because the smell from the apartment was not pleasant, the weather was not comfortable, and the task was not easy. but it got better! and the next day, the hole was patched, the floor dry, the laundry done, and around 3:30 after a speed unload of the car into the closets, i cruised home. well, not so much cruised as lugged my sorry self and trooper van up the 405 to the 5 to the 580 to the 101 to the home.
tomoooorrrooowww evening, which be sunday, i am jumping on a plane to new zealand! and after a longish wait in the airport, a plane from nz to tonga! and then onto a boat! to sail around for three weeks! i am EXTREMELY excited, and don't even know what to say but i can't wait. i still have errands to run, gifts to buy, packing to do, but !!!!!!!!!!!!
