yuletide author letter
Dear Yuletide Author,
Hi! It is good to have around these parts! I know it can be a bit anxiety producing to get me in an exchange if you aren't on my friends-list since almost everything is friends locked. But have no fear! I am easy to please (I know everyone says that, but it's true!), and I picked fandoms that I would love just to read more about and spend a little time in their universes, no matter the circumstances.
Anyway, here's a little more detail under the cut.
1. The Madeline L'Engle universe.
Basically, I love Meg. And Calvin. And I just want to read more about them. I would love a story about Meg and Calvin as adults, set in the time of, say House Like a Lotus but that would be a HUGE treat. Honestly, anything of the two of them in that universe would be awesome, or even just Meg herself. My fondest wish in this fandom is just to read more in the universe.
2. Modern Family
I picked "any" for characters here because I love them all. Seriously. LOVE THEM ALL. (With the possible exception of Haley, except she often has great interactions with other members of the family that I love.) I would enjoy a gen-ish story that is in the vein of the show (we see all three families and the themes collide in some way). I would also enjoy any story about one of the families -- Cameron and Mitchell, Gloria and Jay, Phil and Claire and any of their kids. I have a special soft spot for Manny, and I think the Manny and Luke friendship is hilarious and sweet. But really, I just love everyone, and I think it would be pretty easy to pick anything to do with the show and I would be thrilled!
3. The Hunger Games
Okay, so I do have opinions about this source material, but I am also completely open to what your imagination can come up with. I would adore a fic about Katniss and Peeta back in District 12, but really anything about either one of them (or Haymitch), especially during or after the third novel,would be great. I love Peeta to death; I like Katniss though I think she can be dense about many things -- including feelings; I think Haymitch and Cinna are both awesome. I enjoy pretty much any of Katniss' allies -- like Finnick and Annie. I am not particularly a Gayle fan, though I don't object to him being in a fic as long as he's not the focus of it. Again, though I'm pretty easy to please -- I just want to read more about this universe.
4. Mary Stewart
This request is an unabashed, self-indulgent, always-wanted-to-read-it request. So feel free to go crazy. :) Basically, I think the Ambrosius and Niniane relationship would have been a fascinating read. So anything about that time, particularly based on Ambrosius' account of it, would be awesome. An adult rating would be great, but not necessarily required.
What I tend to like:
* Friendship that becomes something more
* Banter when appropriate to the characters
* Kid fic is fine
* character studies
* Slightly bittersweet tones
* Slice-of-life stories
What I tend not to like:
* Character bashing
* Meanness
* Anything too embarrassing for a character
* Simplistic solutions
