So, everybody has seen the "interview" meme. But it's never dead, so today's questions brought to you by
chaos_pockets.
1. What do you do when bored?
Assuming I'm really bored, like, don't feel like reading anymore, nothing is on TV, nobody to talk to on IM, no work to do, not hungry . . . well, I tend to tidy up. If I've already tidied up . . .and I still don't want to play poker for some reason . . . I'd probably try and write something. But really, I always want to play poker.
2. ...when stressed?
Poker. Bullet (ie- chess where each opponent gets 1 minute). Basically I try and do things to distract my actual mind. I'm assuming this is stress that can't be alleviated by actually doing whatever it is that is stressing me out (like, oh, a paper).
3. ...when tired, but there's work to be done?
Assuming the work needs to be done RIGHT NOW, I keep working. If the work doesn't need to be done RIGHT NOW . . . then, there's no work to be done, now is there? ;)
I always manage to get things done before the deadlines. Though at times it means I manage ridiculous ridiculous things. For example, reading the Republic and Nicomachean Ethics and writing about 40 pages combined on sid works all in about 18 hours. No, I don't know how I did it, and no, I don't remember any of what I wrote, either.
4. ...when there's nothing good on TV?
Poker. Or talk to people on IM. But really, between the amount of poker on TV, the amount of star trek on tv, the food channel, and various 24 hour news channels . . . I can pretty much always find something to watch . . . (oh, and don't forget the massive SG-1 Mondays . . .)
5. ...when there are no more books about to read, and you can't afford to go get any more?
Can't afford to go get more? That's never happened. In fact, I can't think of a time in my life when I've ever run out of books. If I'm getting low enough, I go queue up. But, I also have my "Haven't Read Them Yet" bookshelf. Currently there are books on 3 shelves of it. So I'm plenty good on books to read (though, I'll admit it, about 2/3 of those books are from various classes . . . but I really do want to read them!).
If in theory I had no more books . . . and I couldn't buy more . . . I'd probably try and learn about this thing called a library. I hear they exist and they don't cost money, and they give you free access to people's intellectual property. I'd chalk them up to some silly myth, but people swear up and down they've been to them . . .
Oh, and if anybody wants questions, I'll gladly provide.
In other news: I'm doing lots of grading. I've clearly completely failed in my NaNo, but I started something, so hopefully I'll continue it when I have some time. I'm really not dead . . . and, um, I now own a book on the I Ching? Go me? Or something?
