The day after my mother regaled me with the tale of her stern lecture to my brother about the necessity of getting a swine flu vaccine, I came down with some sort of virus myself. The body aches, fever, headache, sore throat, and incessant upper chest congestion made me wonder - did I have swine flu?
So I trotted myself over to the Tax Court doctor on Monday morning for a "swine flu test." When I suggested it, he chuckled in a merry, unconcerned way and announced, "Ach, flu is flu. No big deal either way. Get some rest, drink some water, avoid sick people, you'll be fine." And sent me back to work.
So either he's a little loony (always a possibility with government employees) or swine flu is "no big thang like a chicken wang," as one of my co-clerks phrased it. (N.B. - I think "thang" and "wang" are supposed to rhyme, ghetto-style. So it's not really a comment about bird-induced STDs.)
Just a public service announcement from your favorite tax lawyer who might or might not have swine flu.
