001 [open-action]

His nose twitches. There was the distinct lack of ocean spray in the air. For that matter, there was a distinct lack of motion indicating he was still aboard his vessel as well. Startled eyes open wide and it so happens to be a stone ceiling staring back at him instead of the open sky. The first thought to run through his mind was - jailed.

Again.

[Kairi returned from the kitchens carrying a bowl of small fruits that she meant to keep in her room. They wouldn't last long, but they were colourful at least. But she stopped short when she rounded a corner and saw a dirty-looking man coming toward her with a drawn sword.]

Oh!

[Her hand flies out, a moment from trying to summon her keyblade. She nearly drops the fruit.]

Who are you?

Well that wasn't what he was expecting.

He sheathes the sword in a fluid motion and puts his hands up in a gesture of harmlessness. See? He's a good pirate!

"I want no trouble, lass. I'm just looking for a way out of here."

Preferably a way that pointed to open water and a ship.

"When I find it I'll be on my way and out of yours."

Kairi tilts her head to the side and regards him, curiously. He looks like ... Well a pirate. Kairi's not at all sure what she should make of a real pirate, but he's put his sword away.

"Do you mean out of here," she nods at the nearest wall, "Or out of the castle?"

He looks a little surprised. It wasn't so often that he met young girls that did not at least raise an alarm upon seeing him. That was odd.

An eyebrow goes up, "Well, both. Actually." He offers a smile to her, "If you could tell me the way to the nearest door, and directions to the nearest port I'd be so ever grateful."

"Port?" It's not that she's used to seeing pirates. Kairi's sword-ha... Well, the hand she used to wield her keyblade those few times is still free. But he's not threatening her, so why should she raise the alarm?

"Heh, I only just got here. I haven't seen a port. We're in a castle. I don't know what the rest of this world is like."

"So." The gears and clogs in that dirty head of his are visibly turning, "So, you got here. The same as I?"

That can't be right. Could it?

"Where you've no memory of how you've arrived. But arrived you have? And even still more perplexing there is no port nearby?" He rocks back a bit on his heels. "Well that's not a happy state of affairs, is it?"

"Mm." She nods and then, realizing that it's not clear what she's agreeing to exactly, she elaborates, "I don't remember how I got here. But I don't know what's outside the walls. Maybe there is a port out there."

He tilts his head curiously at her, and stares openly. "So same as you then. Huh."

That fruit does look mighty tasty too. "May I?" He points to the bowl.

"Well then, if you could point me perhaps to the exit of this place, I could find out if there indeed is a port or not. Then we can each be on our merry ways."

She nods again, and at his request, offers the bowl, "Sure."

"The door's down that way." And she points back the way she's come, "I don't know where the gate is. I didn't see."

Oooo Strawberry! He plucks the tasty morsel delicately from the bowl, touching nothing else.

"Thank you, lass." He looks to where she's pointing down the hall, then back at her. "That wasn't too far, was it? Gate is probably not too difficult to spot. "

Big. Giant. Door.

She giggles, "Hehe, no."

She goes to walk on, but as she passes him, she glances back, "I'm Kairi. Who're you?"

Jack had the strawberry in his mouth and was mid-chew when the little girl turned around again.

Quickly he chewed and swallowed. Hands quickly dusted on his waist coat with the imaginary crumbs he could have gotten from the strawberry.

Then he takes off his hat, and bows low to her, "I'm Capt'n Jack Sparrow, dove."

He grins at her, surely she knew of him? Who didn't!

"Captain?" Her expression wavered between confusion and trepidation. But she definitely hadn't heard of him, "... Are you a pirate?"

He didn't look like a sailor.

It was as though an invisible leash had been pulled on Jack. He stands to his full height and rocks back on his heels and looks at the girl.

"Now, if I said I was, what would you do?"

Both eyebrows go up.

What hiatus? lightyourway June 1 2011, 10:35:16 UTC
Kairi bit her lower lip and glanced aside, honestly thinking about it. What would she do? She tried to think what Sora or Riku might do in her place. Sora would be excited to meet a real live pirate, and Riku would probably be wary and skeptical the same as always.

But she was neither one of them.

She shrugged, "Well, nothing. Pirates aren't very nice people, but you haven't hurt me." And he'd put his sword away when he saw her, so maybe he wasn't even a pirate after all.

lies and slander! The lot of it! kptn_sparrow June 2 2011, 07:13:18 UTC
Jack doesn't move very much while the young girl looks to be thinking it over. A lot depended upon what she would say, for how he would react. When she finally spoke the look he gave was a cross between put out and relief.

"Well, normally, I'd be the first to agree with you! Pirates are generally a rather greedy, loud, and cancerous lot. Given much to impulses of the flesh be it drink, food ... or " He pauses and looks down at her, measuring her maturity by her height. She came up to his sternum." ... other. And a pirate I may be BUT " he makes sure to emphasize the word of with both of his hands. " But, I am mostly not to be confused with that weasely lot of bilge rats. "

There's a flash of gold in the grin that he gives her, " And there would not be a reason to be going and hurt you. Not one that I could fathom anyways."

If she caused him any trouble a rag and a bit of rope would fix the problem! That's not hurting anyone, is it?
