Before the next lecture Sooyoung caught her at the entrance of the hall and pulled her into the second row, the lecture following that they sat in the third row. And it isn’t long before Seohyun finds herself sitting twenty rows back, far away from their lecturer's line of sight, with Sooyoung drawing doodles into the margins of her books.

Seohyun doesn’t have to be a genius to know that Sooyoung has somehow successfully breached all of her defenses.

She can’t really explain why she never gets annoyed at the splotches of ink that sometimes fall from Sooyoung’s pen onto her notes, or how she doesn’t care when Sooyoung’s tales distract her from the lecturer’s spiel on Machiavelli’s political theories.

Seohyun can’t really explain why shivers run through her body when Sooyoung’s breath hits the skin of her jaw as she laughs quietly, or traces the visible veins on Seohyun’s wrist down to the inside of her elbow.

And Seohyun definitely can’t explain why whenever she is with Sooyoung she suddenly isn’t so content with being a listener, with being passive. She suddenly wants to do, wants to take part in the stories that Sooyoung tells her underneath the shade of the trees during their free hours. She wants to be in the tales that Sooyoung retells to her other friends, wants to make adventures with Sooyoung instead of just hearing about them.

All her life, Seohyun’s been a listener, quiet, unseen and unheard, but suddenly that’s not enough. Living through other people’s stories isn’t enough anymore, Seohyun want’s her own adventures so she tries her best to create them. Tries to shake things up.

She’s in Sooyoung’s dorm room, it’s more spacious than hers since Seohyun’s still only in her first year, and instead of listening to another story about something Sooyoung did at a party on the weekend, Seohyun leans forward and kisses her, cuts Sooyoung off mid-sentence.

It’s not her first kiss, but it’s the first one she’s initiated and it's the first one that counts.

Seohyun almost thinks that Sooyoung must have been expecting it with how quickly she responds - how she places her fingers lightly to Seohyun’s waist and moves her lips against the pair pressed to her’s - but when she pulls back her eyes are wide and she looks surprised.

“I-” Seohyun chokes out, should she apologize? Is this a situation where she should apologize? The ends of her fingers and her lips tingle. Her whole body is buzzing with nerves and Seohyun doesn’t really know what comes next.

But Sooyoung smiles and Seohyun feels herself do the same.

“I thought that I’d have to make the first move,” Sooyoung says and pulls Seohyun in by the back of her neck to capture her lips once again.

All of her life, Seohyun has been the listener, but she knows there’s always room for change, and when she presses her tongue into Sooyoung's mouth Seohyun thinks that in this case change is definitely a good thing.

Being a listener is fun, but so is being a doer.
