So out of all the members of 2PM, Taec gets the most rumours about being a "douche" but the thing is, I don't think any of the 2PM members are douches. I think one of the things that really stood out to me about the group were how normal they all were, so I see Taec having the same level of douchiness as your close guy friends. He'll probably laugh at you if you trip and fall, but then he's going to lend a hand and pull you back up.
Obvious facts first: Taec is a smart guy. Everyone's seen pictures of his yearbook and all the clubs he was in and heard how he's in the National Honor Society, but the thing that is interesting about that is that despite how he excelled in academics, he decided to audition in JYPE to become a model and from that decided that he'd go ahead and become an idol, why not. It's such a drastic change that you've got to wonder his motivations behind it -- it's not like he's been practising for ages and ages to fulfill his dream like Junho and Junsu and Wooyoung, and it's not like he was born with musical talent like Jay (although he's not lacking it either, I MISS HIS BEATBOXING, SIGH), and he has a great model face/body but it very much seems that Taec just wanted to try something new and exciting and found that he really, really enjoyed it. So despite his good grades, I think he's one who puts greater importance on challenging himself to do new things and not backing down from any opportunities handed to him. He doesn't seem to be too proud of his nerdy past, but then he doesn't seem to be ashamed of it either. I get the feeling that he's like that with a lot of aspects of himself. He's just... okay with himself. He isn't full of himself, but he definitely does NOT have any self-esteem issues or hang-ups about himself like you could argue Jay does. He doesn't seem to mind making an idiot of himself as long as he has fun doing it.
We see him doing a lot of cutesy stuff for the camera and he seems to LOVE attention. He's loud and colourful (also he can't dress himself for shit) and takes up a lot of space with his personality. He won't hog the spotlight from the other members if it's their turn to shine, but if the camera goes to him, he will ham it up like no one's business. He knows fangirls love it. He's a good performer. He's never nervous on camera and he doesn't crack under pressure. It's like he's pretty chill with everything. On the Wild Bunny episode where all the members were pranking on him, you never once see him lose his temper or do anything more than whine a little bit that the rest of the group wasn't helping him do his job. But 2PM's trainer (LOL YES it's always the same trainer lady) said that he does get angry, and when he's angry, he can give off quite a bad impression with his words. I guess he's not a guy who gets angry easily, but when he does, you should stay on his good side.
Taec really takes care of people he's close to. The big example, is of course, Jay. Taec translates everything for Jay and doesn't get annoyed when Jay is being a dumbass, he just laughs and maybe shoves Jay a bit in that, "I CANNOT believe you just said that" kind of way. I think there was an episode of Idol Army where the 2PM guys were having a meal and Taec was peeling the sweet potato for Jay? Jay's sort of clueless in general so Taec has stopped Jay from walking into traffic, from walking off the elevator at the wrong floor, and just... Jay is ALWAYS looking away from the camera to meet Taec's eye to make sure he's saying the right thing. I think they have a great relationship. But Taec is really good with the other members too: he also translates for Khun and they have a shitload of predebut camwhore pictures together. He's roommates with Junsu and they can be messy about everything together. He's got good rhythm with Wooyoung and they make good MCs on Inkigayo. Can't think of a specific example with Junho right now LOL but they do get along, I swear. And he fools around and makes stupid jokes with Chansung ALL the time, even during rehearsals. But he'll do his job very well when it's turn to perform. He'll be like, dork dork dork around, oh camera is on, show time, PUTS ON RAGE FACE, TEARS SHIRT OFF WHILE SCREAMING ANGRILY!!

Okcats are an ugly and possibly rabid species of feline. He's a smart guy, I feel, in the sense that he can quickly assess a situation and do what is needed of him. He can take on many roles without any trouble. So before Jay left, he was the dorky one of the group, and now, he's the muscley cool dude of the group, and he seems to be comfortable in both. I think Taec is at his best when he's interacting with people, however. He needs someone to be the foil to his character, or else he's just going to go wild and have no one to help direct his energy.
Also he is a complete internet addict. I've read that on his days off, he'll spend 10 hours online. Hottests call him "Oktizen" for Ok Netizen because he is seriously online all the time and he'll address rumours about himself on his cyworld. So from this I gather that he really is curious about how others see him. I don't see him as the type to get offended by anything - at least, not easily, but I guess he wants to keep track of what is being said.
Okay maybe one thing that Taec is sensitive about: his teeth. He's said in interviews that he doesn't like nicknames about his teeth, but still, he never refrains from smiling and inadvertently showing off his teeth if he thinks something is funny. I suppose he knows that people make jokes about his teeth so he doesn't like that, but he doesn't care about it enough to bother changing himself. Although he did get rhinoplasty, so idk, maybe he wanted that himself or the agency really pressured him to get it?
Now that Jay's gone, Taec has really been pushed forward to the front of 2PM. Right now he's got more jobs lined up than Nichkhun does. While I do think that Taec enjoys the attention being showered on him, he probably does miss Jay. Taec understands responsibility. He may not be the "responsible" one of the group, but he will do what is asked of him. In Wild Bunny he was asked to MC for his pranking episode and despite not getting any sleep from his trip to Boston, he still did it. He complained a bit, but he did it, and stuff like this all makes me think that Taec is really just a normal guy. He's talented and can do a lot, but his personality is not the type to change over time.
