It’s ironic that she’s a flower shop girl because Tiffany thinks feelings can’t be bought, but rather that they’re earned. But everyday customers continue to come in with their lover’s glow and Tiffany greets them with her own ‘I’m sure you think you’re in love now, but tomorrow you’re going to realise you’re in deep shit’ smile. They’re all fools but at least it’s paying for her rent.
One day when Tiffany is snipping away and primming up her flower display Jessica walks in, and at first Tiffany doesn’t bother pretending to be all nice, because she doesn’t look like she’ll be buying anything (and to be honest, she looks a little intimidating and on the inside Tiffany doesn’t like dealing with stand off-ish people). And Tiffany is right with her assumptions, because Jessica leaves as soon as she comes in.
Her visits become more frequent, but Tiffany never tries talking to her because she’s thinks they’ve established this mutually awkward thing where it’s too late to strike up a conversation since neither of them made any effort the first time. Except, Tiffany starts to get annoyed because all Jessica does is come in and play with the petals of her flowers that she’s spent so much effort in prettying up.
And now that Tiffany sees it’s apparent that Jessica proves to be no social threat, she loses her patience, “Are you going to buy anything?” her tone tense with annoyance.
In response all Jessica does is return a terse smile and utters a quiet ‘maybe’.
‘I see,’ Tiffany answers and walks away but she stops half way and asks, “Is there anything else I can help you with then?”
Jessica visibly brightens. How strange. She says something but Tiffany can’t quite hear.
“What?”
“Nothing really,” she says a little more clearly, “I just thought you’d never ask.”
Jessica smiles and well, well something inside Tiffany’s head clicks and maybe nothing’s really that ironic after all when Tiffany walks home half dazed and confused with a bouquet of flowers stuffed in her backpack.

ngl, i don't see tiffany as cynical/introverted/negative at all, but i liked the set up of the story. the ending was adorable.
