If someone had told Soohyun a year ago that he'd be where he is today, Kibum and Xander gone and replaced, U-Kiss flying to the US, he would have laughed. Back then, he thought that U-Kiss was forever, even if that forever was doomed to be a forever lacking in awards. When someone finally did tell him, he actually laughed because it was all he could do.
If someone had told Soohyun three months ago that he'd ever get over it, he would have screamed. Everything had happened too quickly and all centered around him. Suddenly he's being congratulating for being made leader when he never thought such a role would be necessary, but the others are too confused to question it, and oddly enough, after a while it starts to make sense. The new U-Kiss needs a leader to answer the questions that still make Kevin tear up and introduce the new members who still can't shake off the unnecessary feelings of guilt. The pain is still there, but they cover it up with new happiness, and it's good enough.
If someone had told Soohyun that in the end he'd fall in love, he would have called them crazy. He'd heard plenty of stories of these things happening, of idols falling in love, of band members falling in love. Hell, he'd even witnessed it more than a few times. But for it to happen to him? He never thought it possible. That is, until he's standing in a doorway and his mouth goes dry the second he rings the doorbell.
He never expected to meet someone like this, who is so like himself and yet entirely different. Someone who is so comfortably awkward in a reassuring way, the way that lets everyone around him feel that it's okay to be themselves. Someone who manages to take care of others without them realizing that they're being taken care of when Soohyun has never been taken care of in all his life. Someone who makes all of the responsibility and stress go away, even if it's just a second, when he starts to sing. Soohyun's never been very good at singing duets, but he's willing to try.
"Come on in, hyung," Hoonmin yawns, holding the door open as Soohyun steps through. "Sorry it's such a mess."
