I got to this late so I didn't really finish and I'm not sure where it's headed, lol and I'm not even sure I'll be continuing it D:

For Yunho's tenth birthday, he's given a cape. It's red and somewhat flimsy, made from a corner of an old cloth that used to sit on his dinning room table, and it's a deep scarlet, nowhere near the same shade of red of Superman's cape. But it's good enough.

Yunho's family isn't well-to-do and ever since his father had been laid off three months ago, they've been scraping by on his mother's pay as a seamstress and eating leftovers from the diner that his father's a temp at.

Superman is all the rage these days. Everyone wants to be him and nearly all the kids at Yunho's school have a red cape on and a pair of briefs turned inside out to be worn over their pants.

Three days after his birthday, Yunho wears his cape to class and while he's not ridiculed, he is ostracized. Kids don't mean to be cruel, most of them still at that age where they have no clue how harmful their words and actions or non-actions, can be.

Yunho takes a seat by the corner, lunchbox cradled in his lap and he carefully unpacks his sweet tea and two slices of bread, munching as he watches the others trade snacks and play fight. He feels invisible but that's okay too because in his mind, invisibility is a power that Superman has, it's just one that no one knows exists yet.

When Yunho turns fifteen, he's told by his mother that they're moving. His father has finally gotten a good job, one that'll take them from the countryside of Korea to the heart of it. He spends his birthday packing for Seoul, tucking his cape around his daughter, Bambi, and stuffing them into his suitcase where they'll be safe.

Seoul is different from Gwangju, everyone here is loud and the people move at a faster pace than Yunho's used to. They move into an apartment complex, a small place with one bedroom that his sisters and mother sleep in. Yunho and his father take the living room, a cot for his dad and the couch for him. It's a tight fit and everything is in its wrong place, the kitchen light on the right-hand side instead of the left and the hallway not long enough to play cars in, but it's the best they can do with the advancement his father's been given.

As soon as Yunho's sixteenth birthday passes, he gets a job salting the roads during the winter months, spending his late nights with a bucket of salt and a dim flashlight. That's where he meets Jaejoong.

Jaejoong's just a few days older but he's a lot frailer,
