Donghae loves Hyukjae, he really does.
Really! He does!
It's not like Hyukjae's hand reminds him of the lightly calloused palm of a martial arts practitioner gripping around his wrist, when Hyukjae tugs him somewhere.
And it's not like Hyukjae's voice, breathy after practice, drawing out the Hae~ of his name reminds him of the lengthy call of Dong Haiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-! of a frantic subgroup leader who thinks he'd lost a member in the sea of people of a foreign land.
And it's not like Hyukjae's stuttering and faint blush reminds him of someone whose Korean still comes out hesitantly, much to his frustration.
Really, it's not like that at all.
"Hae?"
Donghae blinks up from his stupor, blinding beam in place.
"Hyukkie~"
Hyukjae frowns.
"What's with you lately?"
Donghae puffs out his cheeks and shifts his gaze to the ceiling, adopting a contemplative air.
"I don't know what you're talking about," he pouts, after an appropriate pause.
Hyukjae quirks a brow.
"It feels like what I say goes in one ear and out the other with you."
Donghae chuckles.
"You see? That didn't start 'lately!'"
Hyukjae's eyes and mouth widen in exaggerated mock indignation, and promptly tackles Donghae as the younger dissolves into uncontrollable laughter.
It's not like Hyukjae's triumphant Well how do you like this?! reminds him of eager Well? How do you like it?'s when sampling local delicacies in China.
And it's not like the fingers tickling his sides remind him of an attempt, way back when, to tire him out enough to be obediently tucked in bed, after five bottles of coke and two shots of espresso.
And it's not like Hyukjae's wide gummy grin reminds him of proud looks and gentle hair-ruffles after successful Chinese lessons.
Seriously, it's not like he's staring at Hankyung when his attention should be focused on Hyukjae and the antics between the EunHae couple that would drive fangirls into a frenzy if they only saw.
After all, he sees Hyukjae, and Hyukjae only.
It's true. Hankyung? What Hankyung? Oh, the man far, far from Seoul? No, out of sight, out of mind.
Really!
He pulls Hyukjae into a headlock, rolls them over, and smiles, eyes locking on Hyukjaes' immediately.
Because, Donghae loves Hyukjae.
He really does.
