Kim Kibum had a special relationship with rain. The rain had been with him through everything. From when he had his first kiss to when he met the man of his dreams. The rain was his best friend. Kibum loved the rain.
Kibum walked around town. He felt like he needed time to think back on everything that had happened to him.
He was walking down the road. This town had his memories scattered all over it. From the dumpster by the alley to the cats in the pet shop.
"Kibum, here!" Jonghyun pulled Kibum inside a narrow alley.
"Ew, it stinks!" Kibum cringed at the stench the dumpster was giving off. "Of all the places in the world, why hide behind a dumpster?"
"Because Onew-hyung would never look for us here!" he grinned.
Kibum rolled his eyes and held his hands up, starting to feel water drop on his hands. "It's raining."
"I love you."
He smiled to himself then started walking towards the small market at the corner.
"Lee Jinki, you better get your ass here before I tell a certain maknae what you've been telling the F(x) girls!" Kibum practically screamed over the phone.
He crossed his arms over his chest and waited for the leader to emerge from somewhere along the road. Instead, he saw a walking puppy with his hands in his pocket, sucking on a lollipop.
"You're Lee Jinki now?" Kibum scoffed. "He is dead."
"He's, err, busy." Jonghyun scratched the side of his head. "With a certain maknae."
"What the--" Kibum's mouth flew open. He stared at Jonghyun in disbelief before glaring at the ground. "He's going to hell."
Jonghyun chuckled and pulled Kibum into a hug. "At least I know you're safe."
And fangirls in the area went crazy. They took pictures. Only to be chased away by a light drizzle, which eventually grew stronger.
He laughed to himself at the memory. He looked to his right and saw their dorm.
Kibum curled up in a corner of the balcony from overthinking about things. He stared off into space, only to be pulled back to reality by Kim Jonghyun--handing him a drink.
"What do you think about the JongKey otp thing?" Kibum muttered.
"Okay, I guess." Jonghyun scratched his chin. "And you?"
"What would you do if I told you that I want that 'pairing'-- or whatever the Fans call it-- to be real?"
Jonghyun blinked at the younger. Kibum sighed and got up from his balled position to go back inside the dorm. He takes a step, but he immediately gets pulled back by Jonghyun.
"You want JongKey to be real?" the vocalist asked.
Kibum purse his lips and continued to stare at the older.
"Then let's make it real."
Kibum's heart exploded into a billion fireworks. He was so happy he couldn't even explain it.
"JongKey is real." Jonghyun whispered. "I love you."
"I love you too."
"Let's get inside. It looks like it's about to rain."
Kibum pursed his lips and continued walking down the street and turned at the next corner.
He stood in front of a big building. It was the SM Entertainment building. Kibum was no longer smiling.
It was raining hard that day and Kibum had to walk to work that day. He hurriedly ran inside the building and got the biggest shock of his life.
"You will be dating Shin Sekyung."
Kibum felt like his world fell apart. His heart broke into pieces. He ran outside and sat on the sidewalk, tears already rimming his eyes.Would that be the end of JongKey?
Kibum quickly passed the building, taking a left turn at the next intersection. He stopped in front of a big mall.
Kibum waited at the parking lot. Jonghyun asked him if Kibum could pick him up. Kibum stupidly agreed, completely forgetting why Jonghyun was at the mall in the first place.
He saw it from the mirror. Jonghyun and Sekyung, holding hands, walking outside. He felt his chest tighten.
The paparazzi swarmed around them like ants. Jonghyun waved goodbye at Sekyung the moment the photographers left them alone.
"Thanks for picking me up." Jonghyun said when he got inside. "Oh, it's raining."
Kibum said nothing. Indeed, it was raining.
Kibum started to feel drops of water in his skin. He kept on walking. Eventually, he found himself face to face with a small coffee shop a few blocks away from their dorm.
There wasn't a memory from that coffee shop... Yet. Kibum peered inside and regretted it almost immediately.
Jonghyun was there. Sekyung was there. Their lips were pressed together. Kibum turned away and he almost didn't notice the warm water sliding down his cheeks.
Kibum sat on the sidewalk, ignoring the heavy rain that was to come. On yet another important memory, the rain was with him. Kibum loved the rain, especially at times like this. Because the rain made sure that nobody would see Kibum's tears and all of his pain.
