Every bad relationship starts the same way.
There’s The Meeting.

It was bad enough that Junsu was already late for his first class of the semester, but of course, of course, he just had to slam right into someone as he was about to reach the door to his lecture hall.

The first thing he saw as he sat up was a nice pair of long legs and then the most blinding smile he’d ever seen in his life.

“Are you okay?” The other man asked.

Suddenly Junsu didn’t care about being late for class anymore.

The Courting Period.

The other turned out to be Jung Yunho, one of the undergraduate teaching assistants in Junsu’s Calc 1 class. He was a year ahead of Junsu and a political science major with a math minor because he loved math that much. He also had the nicest smile that made Junsu forget about whatever math question he was about to ask.

Being a music major, most would think that Junsu excelled at math, but when it came to calculus, he was as lost as 80% of his classmates. This, however, provided multiple opportunities to go to Yunho’s personal office hours and spend some quality time together as Yunho helped Junsu bend his mind around his homework problems. And then when Junsu started getting use to Yunho’s smile, he found himself actually understanding the different formulas and how to use the stupid chain rule correctly.

When he got a B on his midterm, Yunho was the first one Junsu told and the older man congratulated him by treating to coffee.

It was the first time that the two of them had spent outside of the lecture hall or the room in the library where Yunho held his office hours and despite embarrassing himself a couple times, Junsu enjoyed the couple hours they spent together. He learned that there was more to Yunho than just a bright smile and extensive knowledge of math, but that he had a younger sister and enjoyed dancing when he had the time, even if it wasn’t an appropriate time (which explained the few times he’d seen Yunho walk into lecture or office hours with glasses on and a hood covered head).

They parted with a good feeling, Yunho reminding Junsu not to get too big a head because the hard stuff was just ahead. But Junsu just smiled at him and replied that if Yunho kept helping him, there’d be no problems.

After the first coffee date, Junsu began to join Yunho at the same café every week after Yunho’s office hours. Sometimes it was just the two of them, while other times it was with friends.

Junsu was introduced to Yunho’s friend, Yoochun, who was also a music major; and Jaejoong, undecided with a minor in Japanese. Junsu liked to drag along his own roommate, Changmin, an electrical engineering major who preferred to stay in their room continually building a better computer to make him better at Starcraft(not that he needed it, in Junsu’s opinion).

The five of them made an unruly bunch and Junsu was happy to get closer to them all, especially Yunho. Even though his crush on Yunho was obvious, he had no idea how the other felt…but he was okay with that. He liked things the way they were and with his first semester finals approaching, Junsu had no time to worry about romance.

The Perfect Confession

After countless hours studying and being drilled about integrals and derivatives and “If cone X has a radius of Y and a height of Q it’s draining into the cylinder Z that has a radius of A and a height of C, how high with the water from cone x be in cylinder Z?”, the only word that could describe Junsu’s feeling after taking his Calc 1 final was euphoric. His first instinct was to take his test questions and go over them with Yunho, but them he remembered that the older man was still in the lecture hall helping give the final(and had given Junsu a thumbs up as he walked out of the lecture hall) and wouldn’t be available until late in the day as he had his own finals to attend.

With a sigh, Junsu made his way back to his dorm room and smiled at Changmin asleep at his desk, head mushed into the pages of his physics text. He took one more glance at his Calc final before throwing it on his desk as he sat down on his bed.

The next thing he knew there was something that kept hitting him in his butt and Junsu opened his eyes to find Changmin leaning over him as he hit Junsu’s butt with a pillow.

“Get. Up. Your. Phone. Is. Ringing. And. Woke. Me. Up.” Changmin told him as it punctuated every word with a smack to Junsu’s butt. Kicking Changmin away, Junsu scrambled for his phone and saw the five missed calls and one voice mail from Yunho. He pressed on the button for the voicemail and waited for the message to start.

“Ah…Junsu, it’s, uh, Yunho! I know you’re probably passed out and drained from your final, but I really need to talk to you about that, um, actually. Your final, that is. Uh, just. Meet me at our normal room in the library ASAP, okay? I’ll be waiting…Bye.”

Junsu frowned at the tone in Yunho’s voice, a little worried as he grabbed his coat and scarf, along with his backpack and test questions, and made his way to the library. But what he found when he got there was not the disappointed Yunho he was expecting, but a shy Yunho holding a single lavender rose.

Confused, he just looked at Yunho as he dropped his backpack to the ground and sat in the chair that Yunho quickly pulled out for him.

“Sorry that I dragged you out here under the lore of you doing back on the final, which I’m sure that you didn’t considering the questions were sooo much easier than the ones I was testing you with but-,” Yunho paused, took a deep breath and pushed up the glasses that drew attention to the dark circles under his eyes. “I just. I couldn’t say anything during the semester because I was an undergrad TA and even though I’m an undergrad, I could’ve gotten in trouble for showing favoritism to a student for dating them, so…”

Oh. OH. Junsu blushed as he realized what was happening and bit on his lip as Yunho continued.

“What I mean to say is…You’re a really great person, Junsu, and I really like you. So, would you like to go out with me?” Yunho asked as he held out the rose.

Junsu took it with a thoughtful look on his face before he tossed it behind him and pulled Yunho down to his level for-

Which leads to the The First Kiss

-one of the best kisses he’d ever had. Yunho’s lips were as soft as he expected and as they began to pull away, Junsu couldn’t help but sneak a kiss to the small mole above Yunho’s upper lip. He felt Yunho smiland gave him a smile in return.

“Tell me,” Junsu started as he leaned his head against Yunho’s and laced their fingers together. “How hard was it to ask me out without making it a math pun?”

Yunho closed his eyes and chuckled.

“Well, I was going to ask you if you wanted to be the tangent to my curves,” he paused as he opened his eyes and Junsu almost shivered at the look in them. “But I figured that would be better for another time.”

And then comes the best part of every relationship, good or bad:
The Honeymoon Period

Yunho was the best boyfriend that Junsu ever had.

Thankfully, Yunho wasn’t an undergrad TA for any of Junsu’s classes and they were able to spend the whole spring semester together out in the open without a care. It didn’t surprise Changmin anymore when he walked in the he and Junsu’s dorm to find Yunho asleep on Junsu’s bed with Junsu himself did homework or vice versa. Jaejoong, who actually lived together with Yunho in an apartment, automatically added an extra plate or ordered more food for dinner whenever Yunho came through the door because nine times out of ten, Junsu was right behind him.

Junsu invited Yunho to their university’s glee club concert (that Junsu had joined in celebration of more free time after completing calculus), and Yunho invited Junsu to a dance competition at one of the clubs he liked to frequent. They even started a tradition where they would either go out (Junsu’s treat) or call in for take-out (Yunho’s treat) once a week to escape from their classes and just be together. They were that cute, disgustingly-perfect couple, Junsu knew, but if he had to be honest, he couldn’t have been happier.

They spent their summer break apart, figuring that some time apart would be good and because yes, they did need to visit their families. They parted ways with a sweet kiss and smiles, promising to meet up in a month to go apartment searching together after Jaejoong told Yunho that he was going to move into an apartment with Yoochun and Changmin for the year. Junsu was happy enough to see his parents and twin brother and from Yunho’s calls and emails, the other was also happy to be with his parents and younger sister.

It turned out that the time apart had done nothing but good for their relationship. Yunho greeted him by pulling him into kiss right in the middle of the train station and slid an arm around Junsu’s shoulder as they walked around searching for apartments. By the end of the day, they found a nice two bedroom apartment and after signing the lease, Yunho bought pizza and beer in celebration. They ate together in what would be their new living room. To be honest, it hurt Junsu’s butt to be sitting directly on a hardwood floor, but after being deprived of the smile he loved so much and how adamant Yunho seemed to be about trying to feed him pizza, he found that he didn’t care so much.

The next few days were spent gathering personal items from home and going out together to shop for necessary furniture. One trip to the furniture store looking for a new bed for Yunho brought only one thought to the forefront of both of their minds.

It took as long as the bed to get to their apartment and for Junsu to throw a set of sheets on it for them to have sex. Neither had really acknowledged the sexual tension between them, except for that one time when Junsu came with Yunho to one of his favorite clubs. They had spent barely an hour grinding against each other before they rushed back to Yunho’s old apartment and helped each other out. But it seemed that from the first moment they had sex, a dam broke and there was no way to stop it. By the end of their first month together, they had “christened” every sturdy piece of furniture that they had…twice.

But as the new semester started, they reigned in their libidos and focused more on their school work. Yunho ended up being an undergrad TA for Changmin’s Calc 3 class and Junsu was in a couple classes with Yoochun and was taking a Japanese history class with Jaejoong. This just gave all five of them all the more reason to hang out more and basically live at each other’s apartments as Junsu, Yoochun, and Jaejoong did work together as Yunho helped and consoled Changmin with the ridiculousness that came along with Calc 3.

It was all perfect and Junsu couldn’t be happier. Yunho was there to kiss him asleep every night and kiss him awake every morning and he never wanted that to change.

But then, as every bad relationship starts, there has to be that first point of decline.
Which brings us to The First Time He Cheats

The one morning that Junsu woke up alone in Yunho’s bed without knowing that Yunho wouldn’t be there, he was worried.

He found Yunho on their couch, staring blankly out the window. Tentatively, Junsu sat down next to Yunho and placed his hand on his shoulder. He was just about to open his mouth to ask what happened when Yunho beat him to it.

“I cheated. I…I cheated on you and I’m sorry.”

He slowly pushed off Junsu’s hand and went into his own room, the lock of the door echoing throughout the apartment. Junsu stayed where he was for what felt like hours but was only a few minutes until he walked to his room, packed a bag, and left for Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Changmin’s apartment.

And as they say: Once a cheater, always a cheater.
The Second Time He Cheats

At first, Junsu blamed himself for Yunho cheating on him. That he wasn’t good enough for Yunho or that he hadn’t been paying enough attention to him, anything that would justify what had happened.

Victim blaming, he thought bitterly as he found himself in the same exact situation as he was three months ago.

After the first time, it had taken over a month of Junsu sleeping on the couch of Yoochun’s room until Yunho finally convinced him to come back to their apartment. After another month of living together again, Yunho planned an apology dinner in their apartment complete with candles, champagne, and roses. Though he didn’t want to admit it, Junsu was touched by the effort Yunho put in and had told Yunho that night that he had regained some of his trust.

Go figure that only another month later that his trust would be shattered again and not only by Yunho, but by another friend he had trusted, Changmin.

Junsu stared at both of them as they kneeled at his feet. On one hand, his heart wanted to believe their story that it had been a mistake and that they were drunk and celebrating Changmin’s near perfect score on his Calc final, but on the other hand his mind…

He’d always had a feeling that Changmin liked Yunho, but just didn’t make any kind of move because Changmin knew Junsu liked him. And even after they started going out, every now and then Junsu caught Changmin staring, but he had decided to do nothing about it because he trusted not only Changmin, but Yunho as well.

And what good that trust did for him.

“Out.” was the first word Junsu said to them since they told him what happened. “OUT. I left last time when I didn’t even do anything, so this time you’re leaving and you have 10 minutes to do so before I’m throwing you both out because I honestly can’t care for both of you right now.”

And with that, he stood and left the two of them on the floor. It wasn’t until he locked the door to his own personal room that he let one tear escape, only to wipe it away and text Jaejoong to punch Yunho extra hard when he saw him.

After spending two weeks in an empty apartment, Junsu called Yunho and told him that forgave both him and Changmin and that Yunho could come back under two stipulations. One, that he would never speak of his cheating ever again and Two, that he would never cheat ever again or else it would REALLY be over.

And thus starts the never-ending spiral of cheating and forgiving that make bad relationships bad and that, my friends, is where I come in.

?~ ?~ ?~ ?~ ?~ ?

Junsu woke up to a headache and dry taste in his mouth. His body was sweaty and sticky and a glance to the arm wrapped around his waist and Yunho’s face shoved into the pillow next to him explained that.

He sighed and peeled Yunho’s arm off of him. As he walked to the bathroom, he already was regretting what he’d done. Junsu had made a promise to himself that he’d stop sleeping with Yunho until the other man truly proved that he was devoted to Junsu, but it wasn’t doing the good Junsu thought it would.

“It’s a promise that you’ve failed to keep multiple times now~”

The voice was like a whisper in Junsu’s ear and didn’t fail to scare the crap out of him.

“What…,” he looked around the hall and saw nothing or no one and only heard Yunho’s light snores from his bedroom. The voice itself had been very familiar, but Junsu couldn’t put his finger on who it exactly it sounded like. He shook his head and blamed the small amount of alcohol he drank in the club with the others last night for screwing with his mind.

After a thorough hot shower, Junsu stood in front of the mirror as he brushed his teeth. He leaned down to spit and rinse and as he came back up, he saw a blur of red in the fogged mirror. Junsu whipped around to see nothing behind him and winced as his neck cracked. He turned back to the mirror to see the blur of red gone and rubbed his face.

“Maybe I should go back to bed…,” he mused aloud, but then he remembered there were no sheets on his bed after his cat peed on them the previous night. Between sleeping on a sheet-less bed and getting back in bed with Yunho, Junsu decided that it was just better to stay awake, despite the weird occurrences that were happening to him.

He made his way to the kitchen and started the coffee maker. Opening the fridge, he glanced around before he decided on an apple and shut the door. He then hopped up on the counter next to the coffee machine with a sigh. Taking a bite, he looked around the apartment and frowned at the various messes that had Yunho’s name all over them.

Just as he thought about how he was going to yell at Yunho, he saw it. Or rather, he saw him.

The strange man dressed in black with ruby red hair like Dorothy’s slippers and a smirk that would rival any Wicked Witch of the West, that stared at him from the couch.

“Good morning, Junsu.”

It was then that Junsu realized why he couldn’t figure out the voice from before, considering that it wasn’t often that you heard your own voice outside of your head. And that the man staring at Junsu…was Junsu.

“Who…,” Junsu started before he stopped and shut his eyes. “No, I’m dreaming. I already have a twin named Junho and he’s not even my identical twin so there’s no way that there is a man sitting on my couch that is my exact twin. No way.”

He cracked open one eye to see the other him still on the couch as the other man raised a hand and wiggled his fingers in a wave toward Junsu in the kitchen. Going back to bed was looking better and better as time went on.

“Done freaking out yet? Because we have business to get to!” His doppelganger stated as he jumped off the couch and walked into the kitchen. “Long story short, you have a problem that I can solve and that’s why I’m here.”

Junsu watched as the other opened the fridge and grabbed his own apple. He took a bite and hopped up on the counter next to Junsu, causing Junsu to jump right off, not fully trusting the other just yet.

“I don’t know what problem I have or how you got in my apartment, let alone why you look just like me despite the attitude and hair, which actually is a nice shade…But I digress. Who are you?”

Taking a bite of his apple, which matched perfectly with his hair color, the other man looked thoughtfully at Junsu. “Hmmm. To make things…less complicated, just think of me as the Sasha Fierce to your Beyonce.”

“The what.”

“Basically, for all intents and purposes, I’m your other half. The opposite side of your personality. The non-complacent that you’ve repressed for so long that you had no clue it existed. But due to your problem, I’ve physically manifested myself to help you out.”

Junsu tilted his head in disbelief at the other. “I must have been slipped some kind of drug last night, I don’t even…” He sighed and covered his face with his hands as he tried to ignore the pats on his head.

“It’ll be okay, I promise. I’ve never failed before and don’t planning on starting now. You can call me Xiah. I’ll be here until we fix your little…situation,” Xiah told him and Junsu couldn’t help cringe at the fake sweetness in Xiah’s voice.
Junsu opened his mouth to ask Xiah a question, but Yunho’s groggy voice made him close it.

“Su, who’re ya talkin’ to this early in the mornin’?” Yunho asked as he shuffled into the kitchen.
He gave a quick kiss to Junsu’s cheek and made his way over to the coffee maker.

Junsu didn’t miss the look of disgust Xiah directed toward Yunho.

“Don’t see what’s so special about him honestly. All that’s good is his face and his cock.” Xiah muttered as he flicked a piece of Yunho’s hair while Yunho poured his coffee.

“What!?”Junsu nearly screamed and caused Yunho to spill his coffee all over the counter.

“Junsu! What the hell!” Yunho shouted. Xiah grinned as Yunho hissed at the burning coffee dripping on his bare feet; a few curses slipping out as he reached for a rag.

“Oh I must have forgotten to mention~” Xiah whispered as he walked by Junsu. “You’re the only one that can see me.”

?~ ?~ ?~ ?~ ?~ ?

Once Junsu was alone in the apartment, Yunho at his part time job, he opened the door to his room and found Xiah lying on his bed with his cat, Leo. As Xiah scratched behind Leo’s ears, Junsu wondered if he looked this cute with his cat.

“You do, but not as cute as me~,” Xiah said aloud as he sat up on the bed.

“Don’t tell me that you can ‘read my mind’ too” Junsu frowned as he took a seat by his desk.

“Were you not listening before? I am you, so considering they’re kind of my thoughts too, there’s no mind reading involved. Moving on, seeing as you’re in here, I’m assuming the asshole left?” Xiah asked as he played with one of Leo’s paws.

“Assho- you mean Yunho?”

“The one and only. Though in my opinion, he doesn’t deserve a name other than ‘Asshole’ for what he’s done to you…Which is kind of the reason I’m here.” Xiah leaned back on his hands and stared right at Junsu. “Being brutally honest, you’re in a bad relationship and I for one don’t understand why anyone would ever want to stay in a bad relationship when there’s no hope for change.”

Junsu fidgeted in his chair. “…I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Xiah sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “So you’re one of those types. Well, we’ll just have to do this the hard way.”

He moved Leo from his lap and sat up fully on Junsu’s bed. He lifted one hand in the air and snapped. Slowly, the words Jung Yunho appeared in front of Junsu in red lettering.

“Jung Yunho,” Xiah started, “Your supposedly ‘loving’ boyfriend. Not only has he cheated on you once, or twice, but multiple times. Some he’s come clean with, while others…,” Xiah waved a hand in the air a bit. “You get the idea. And yet, for some reason you keep taking him back.”

The word cheater appeared under Yunho’s name and the sight of the word made Junsu’s blood boil. He swiped a hand through the red words and while they shimmered for a second, they stayed in the air right in front of him.

“And what’s it to you? What’s so wrong with me still trying to have hope in someone I love?” Junsu asked as he directed his anger toward Xiah. It was so much easier to go out his daily life without thinking of what Yunho had done to him in the past and instead only thought of ways that he could change in the future.

“Ah, love you say?” Junsu watched Xiah’s eyes soften for the first time before they returned to their hard glaze. “Tell me Junsu, when was the last time he told you that he loved you? And no, this doesn’t include during sex either.”

Junsu opened his mouth to respond, but then quickly shut it. When was the last time that Yunho had said “I love you”? He stayed silent and tried not to be annoyed with the sigh that came from Xiah.

“That’s what I thought. Junsu, can you also tell me, where Yunho is right now?” Xiah asked in a light tone as he looked around Junsu’s room.

“Of course. He’s at his part time job. He works at a small café on the weekends.”

“Would you get in trouble if you were to call him right now?”

“Ah, well…,” Junsu hesitated. “I don’t think I would, but he told me to text and not call if I ever needed him.”

Xiah nodded his head in response. “I see. Well, let’s just do a quick experiment shall we? Call information and have them direct your call to Yunho so he doesn’t know it’s coming from you and see that he really is at work.”

Junsu bit his lip and dug out his cell phone from his pocket. As he dialed, he hated the dread that started to consume him, but there was that small bit hope that Yunho was really at his job and that Junsu would prove to Xiah why he still had some trust in Yunho. The lady at information connected his call and he could hear his heartbeat as the phone rang.

“Hello?”

His mouth seemed to glue shut the moment Yunho answered the phone. Junsu listened for any sounds that would prove that Yunho was at work, but he heard nothing until-

“Hello? Is anyone there? Hell- Ah! Changmin stop, I’m on the phon-”

Junsu’s thumb pressed against the end button so hard that his phone slipped out of his hand. Xiah snapped his fingers again and the word Liar glared at him.

As he raised his hand, Junsu paused right above Yunho’s name before he dragged it down through the different words until they were all an unintelligible blur of red in his eyes.

“I know…it’s hard to let go of someone that you love so much, but when they hurt you…,” Xiah drifted off and Junsu heard him shift off the bed. He wasn’t surprised when the words disappeared as a warm hand grabbed his own.

“It’s just…Junsu, you can only give people so many opportunities to prove themselves that they can change before they start walking all over you. Also, think about it, you can’t even keep a promise that you made to yourself when it comes to Yunho. He’s nothing but a bad person and it’s literally bringing your life down as you continually try to cling to what once was good. As much as you love him…because you love him, it’s time to let go.”

Junsu just sat there and mulled over what Xiah had said. It was almost exactly the same words that both Yoochun and Jaejoong had been telling him for the past few months, but that Junsu turned a deaf ear to. He found it funny that it basically took a version of himself, this…weird, unreal twin of his called Xiah to make him realize the situation that he dug himself into.

Looking down at Xiah’s hand in his, he felt the warmth that radiated from it and was reminded of Yoochun and Jaejoong. Whoever Xiah was, Junsu slowly began to realize that he wasn’t a dream and that he was here to fix Junsu’s problem, which was apparently his relationship, and he was...okay with that. In fact, the more Junsu thought about it, the more he was okay with it. He'd been stuck in this situation and been complacent for far too long. And, if he had to be selfish and honest to himself, he deserved better.

“You’re…right. You’re right, Xiah.” Junsu finally said. He squeezed Xiah’s hand before standing up and looking around his room. “All that’s left to do now is break the news and leave. I’m sure that Yoochun will let me have his couch again until I find another apartment…”

He picked up his phone and dialed Yoochun’s number. After a quick conversation, Yoochun agreed to be at the apartment as soon as he could. Junsu thanked him and hung up. Ashe started pulling out bags to pack things in, Junsu failed to notice the smirk on the other man’s face.

Things were now in motion and Xiah couldn’t be happier.

?~ ?~ ?~ ?~ ?~ ?

About an hour later, Junsu had just finished packing his last bag as Yoochun arrived.

“Ah…this is the one that I like!” Xiah stated as Yoochun walked right past him, completely clueless to Xiah’s existence. Junsu just glanced at Xiah as he started to circle Yoochun.
“He’s sweet and kind, not to mention better looking~ especially with that ponytail and then those glasses…,”

Junsu couldn’t help but let out a snort at Xiah’s words and it caused Yoochun to look at him.

“What’s so funny?” Yoochun asked and Junsu sighed. He’d forgotten that he was the only one that could see Xiah.

“Nothing, nothing just…thinking about how I’m actually leaving. It’s a bit funny since I’m the one who’s done nothing wrong.” Junsu mused aloud and stuck his tongue out behind Yoochun’s back at a smug-looking Xiah.

“It’s about time! To be honest…I was getting worried that you’d never leave. But, I’m glad. You’ve seemed really depressed in the last few months and I just wanted to-” Yoochun cut himself off and covered his slight blush with a faked cough. He grabbed two of Junsu’s bags and motioned to the door. “I’m going to take these down to my car.”

“He is seriously so cute.” Xiah cooed as Yoochun dragged the bags out of the apartment. “I don’t get why you never went for him. You guys have so much in common and would make such sweet music together…,” He grinned. “In more ways than one.”

But Junsu shrugged at Xiah’s words and brought the last bag from his room to the front door.

“Well, Yunho was always there, so I never really thought about him in that kind of way. Plus he’s just…Yoochun- my friend.” Junsu dropped the bag on the ground and cringed at the sound of something breaking inside. “Plus it’d be weird, especially now with all this happening.”

“Ah, on the contrary, I think it would be perfect~ Not only would he be the perfect person to ‘cure your broken heart’, so to speak, but he’d be perfect for our future plans of revenge as well!” Xiah said as he grabbed Junsu’s free hand and spun him around. “Don’t you think?”

Junsu stumbled as he tried to catch his balance while trying to figure out what Xiah had said.

“Plans…of revenge?”

Xiah grabbed Junsu’s arm again and lead his body into a dip.

“Yes, plans of revenge. Did I not tell you that?”

“No, I’ve only know you for all of three hours and you’ve never mentioned these ‘plans of revenge’.” Junsu replied as he tried to stand up from the dip. He didn’t like the smile that was on Xiah’s face and the way it was getting more sinister by the second.

“Well, that’s actually the main reason why I’m here. To help you get complete and full revenge against Yunho in every.possible.way. Everything else I cause is just an added bonus out of the kindness of my heart…” Xiah dropped Junsu on the floor and jogged over to the front door.

“Ah, Yoochun’s back! And he even fixed his hair up” He glanced back at Junsu and frowned. “Are you just going to sit there? We have a lot of work and planning to do, whether you like it or not.”

?~ ?~ ?~ ?~ ?~ ?

The car ride over to the other apartment took a little longer than usual because of traffic and for once, Junsu was happy to have the extra time with Yoochun.

He’d known the other for almost two years now and was glad to have him as a friend. Considering they had the same major, they mostly spent time together studying, though they did hang out outside of that with the other as well. In Junsu’s opinion, Yoochun had always seemed closer to Jaejoong and Yunho, but he always had an open ear or, as Junsu often used, an open couch and never complained once about any of the things Junsu said about Yunho. He may have also been Yunho’s friend, but that didn’t meant that Yoochun agreed with what he did, what he was doing, to Junsu.

Junsu couldn’t help keep the smile off his face as he realized what a good person and friend Yoochun was. He also ignored the Told you so~ that came from Xiah in the backseat, who couldn’t seem to keep his hands off of Yoochun’s ponytail.

While he was happy that he had this small revelation, Junsu was also a bit sad that he never really thought about Yoochun in this way until Xiah had said something. Had he really been that blind to the people around him because of Yunho?

“Yes. You were.” Xiah said dully as he made small braids in Yoochun’s hair.

Junsu turned around and scowled at Xiah, who just smiled sweetly in response.

“Is everything okay Junsu?”

Barely restraining his hand from smacking himself, Junsu forced a smile at Yoochun.

“Yeah, I just forgot to bring one of Leo’s favorite toys, but I’m sure Jae will lend me one of Jiji’s.”

Yoochun nodded and returned his focus back to the road, unaware of the laughing mess in the backseat.

“Did you know that you’re a horrible liar, Junsu?”

Closing his eyes, Junsu screamed a SHUT UP XIAH inside his head and when he opened them, he grinned at that frown on Xiah’s face that he saw reflected in the rear view mirror.

“Jerk.”

?~ ?~ ?~ ?~ ?~ ?

When they finally got to the apartment, Jaejoong met them outside and gave Junsu a huge hug.

“It’s about damn time. I mean, I love you both but…,” Jaejoong hesitantly trailed off but Junsu just nodded at him understandably. Xiah came up behind Jaejoong and propped his chin on Jaejoong’s shoulder.

“I like this one too. Not as much as Yoochun but he has a good heart.” Xiah confirmed more to himself than Junsu before he pushed of Jaejoong and went back to haunting Yoochun’s every step.

“So weird…,” Junsu muttered to himself and Jaejoong pushed him away.

“Who’re you calling weird? I’m not the one who would rather make himself suffer in a relationship than be single and happy!!”

Junsu frowned and Jaejoong’s face immediately fell as he tried to apologize.

“Oh my god, Junsu I’m sorry. It’s too soon to joke I just couldn’t help myself and I-” He shut his mouth as soon as he saw the smile crack on Junsu’s face. “…Oh you little-”

Jaejoong made to lunge at Junsu, but Yoochun pulled him back and shoved a bag in his arms.

“Let’s move Junsu in before you kill him, okay? Plus, you need to save some of that energy for later with Yunho.” Yoochun said as he walked into their apartment building. Jaejoong nodded in agreement and followed right behind him, and asked Yoochun how he got the cute little braids in his ponytail.

Junsu rolled his eyes at his two friends and couldn’t help the smile on his face. It was amazing how much lighter his heart felt already in less than a day. As he glanced at Xiah leaning against the car, he was almost happy that this stranger had appeared in his life.

?~ ?~ ?~ ?~ ?~ ?

After they unpacked the car, Yoochun left Junsu in his room to get situated, offering half of his closet and a few drawers in his dresser for Junsu’s needs, as he and Jaejoong went to make some dinner.

While Junsu was hanging up his clothes, Xiah lounged with Leo on the comfy couch that would be Junsu’s bed for the next however long. It was then that Junsu remembered something.

“So about these plans of revenge, what exactly do they entail?” Junsu asked lightly, half curious and half cautious of the response Xiah would give.

“Oh you know, the normal kind of thing. Crush Yunho’s heart, his ego, his life. Basically everything that he did to you, you need to do unto him.” Xiah replied as he pet Leo.

It was true that Yunho had done all of those things to Junsu, but as he thought about it, Junsu was just bothered by the idea of reciprocating that hurt back to Yunho.

“But why? Our relationship is over…or rather will be once he sees the note I left him, so there’s no reason to drag more emotions into it. Plus there’s that saying ‘Two wrongs don’t make a right’. I’m the one who’s been wronged, so why would I just go and wrong another person? It doesn’t make a right because it’s not right.”

“And that, Junsu, is why I’m here.”

Junsu stopped unpacking and looked at Xiah who now was sitting up on the couch as Leo sat beside him.

“Look. You are an incredibly nice person, Junsu, and that’s why you’ve surrounded yourself with nice people like Yoochun and Jaejoong. But it’s also the reason that people like Yunho have caught you and been able to walk all over you. I’m here because in every person’s life, there’s a time where they’re allowed to be selfish and mean and better themselves so that they can have a good and happy life. That time for you is right now.

“So what you need to do is suck it up and just let yourself go. Think about all the things that Yunho did to you and how that made you feel. Don’t repress the anger or hate anymore. Take it and use it as your fuel to get revenge. Afterwards, then, and only then, will you fully be able to move on, I guarantee it.”

Junsu was taken a-back by Xiah’s words and surprised at the truth in them. Though he was a bit hesitant, he understood where Xiah was coming from and that this was something that he had to do.
He smiled at Xiah and was about to respond when Yoochun burst through the door and slammed it shut, blocking it with his body.

“You need to hide.”

“Hide?” Junsu asked. “What? Why?”

Yoochun just looked at the door and then back at Junsu with a panicked expression on his face.

“Junsu, just trust me, you need to hid-”

A knock on the door cut off Yoochun’s words.

“Hey Yoochun, are you awake in there? Me, Changmin, and Jaejoong are all going to get coffee, do you want to come? …Yoochun?”

Junsu’s eyes widened at the sound of Yunho’s voice and he saw Yoochun bite his lip. The door handle rattled and there was a kick that jolted Yoochun’s back off the door.

“Well, if you’re gonna be that way then…,”

Junsu waited to breathe until he couldn’t hear footsteps anymore and the door to the apartment slammed shut. As he eased himself down on the couch, he noticed Yoochun slide down to the floor with a relieved expression. He gave Junsu a small smile and Junsu in turn regarded him curiously.

“Yoochun, how long have you and Jaejoong known?”

Yoochun looked at him, confused. “Known about what?”

“Yunho and Changmin.”

“Oooooooooh, this is about to get good,” Xiah commented as he jumped off the couch at Junsu’s words and settled himself on the floor next to Yoochun.

Junsu ignored him and kept his focus on Yoochun who seemed to get more uncomfortable by the second.

“Yoochun…”

“Three months.” Yoochun finally whispered. “I’ve known for three months and Jae’s only known for one. We’ve both warned them and told them off but… it’s come to a point where…,” Yoochun trailed
off and Junsu noticed that both his hands were curled into tight fists.

“We tried to tell you, I dropped so many hints, but you just didn’t want to see.” He stopped again and quickly uncurled his hands to cover his mouth. “Junsu, I’m sorry, that was uncalled for. It just makes me so angry-” Yoochun muttered with his eyes wide, but Junsu waved him off.

“No, it’s fine. I need to hear it because, well, because it’s the truth. I’ve just been stuck in my little bubble of denial and it’s about time I left and looked at the world around me.” Junsu replied and he tried to ignore the sting behind his eyes.

He hated to cry, but the look of pity that Yoochun had on his face made him want to breakdown right then and there. Junsu sniffled and rubbed the back of his hand under his eyes.

“Sorry- I just… I didn’t want to cry over this because this is a good thing but,” Junsu’s words were muffled by a sudden warmth surrounding him and he leaned his head against Yoochun’s shoulder.

“It’s okay now, Junsu. It’s okay.” Yoochun reassured him.

“He’s right, you know. It’s been a long time coming, Junsu” Xiah whispered in his ear. “It’s okay, just let it go.”

Junsu nodded and let himself cry.

?~ ?~ ?~ ?~ ?~ ?

Once he finally calmed down, Junsu and Yoochun finished unpacking Junsu’s things as Xiah dozed on Yoochun’s bed. Afterward, Yoochun re-heated the food Jaejoong had made earlier while Junsu took a shower. As he got out, he took in his bloodshot eyes with a smile. It had barely been a day and his life had changed so much. And for the better too.

They both had just sat down to eat when the door to the apartment slammed open.

“Where is he, Jaejoong? I know he’s here. I bet he’s with Yoochun, knowing that bastard…”
Junsu froze and looked at Yoochun across the table. Xiah, who was lying down in the middle of the table between them grinned.

“Looks like it’s showtime~”

“There you are.” Yunho’s words brushed against Junsu’s neck as he pulled Junsu away from the table and spun him around. “What.Is.This.” He demanded as he shoved Junsu’s letter into his face.

Junsu panicked a bit and pushed Yunho away, afraid to look him in the eye.

Suddenly, time seemed to stop as Xiah’s voice followed right into his ear.

“This is your moment. Your time to get back at him and make him feel like the dumb one. Don’t be afraid and just do it. I believe you.” Xiah’s voice was gone as quickly as it came and it gave Junsu that extra boost of confidence that he needed. He lifted his head and glanced at the letter before he met Yunho’s eyes.

“It looks like my Dear John letter to you.” Junsu stated and tried not to flinch at the change in Yunho’s expression.

“So it’s true then, you’re breaking up with me? With all that we’ve been through, you’re just going to quit and leave.” Yunho replied, practically spitting the words in Junsu’s face. He heard Yoochun’s chair scrape against the floor and Junsu held out an arm as a sign for him to stop.

He would hold his own against Yunho.

“Yes, that’s right.”

Yunho scoffed at his words and threw the letter to the ground. “So our love, you’re just going to throw it away?”

At the mention of love, Junsu’s eyes caught the sight of Changmin standing next to Jaejoong, who was behind Yunho. It seemed to light a fire in Junsu and the next thing he knew there was a sharp pain in his fist and Yunho was lying on the floor.

“Love? Love means that you actually care about the other person. Love means that you don’t cheat on your partner once, twice, or however many times you’ve cheated on me. Love means that you actually make an effort to change when you’ve done something wrong. Love…Love means that you’d do anything to make your love happy and not sad. Love is everything that you haven’t done for the past year and will never do for me ever again.” He took a deep breath and stared at Yunho’s wide eyes under him.

“Love is something I will never feel for you ever again and is something that I doubt you even understand.”

Junsu wiped at his eyes and stepped over Yunho, making his way toward the front door. As he passed by Changmin he paused.

“I…don’t want to say I hate you but, I’m not incredibly fond of you either.” He felt Changmin shift back from him and Junsu almost cracked a smile. “I’m also not telling you to not to be with Yunho, but you should know that he’s a liar and that he slept with me last night.”

With that, Junsu continued out the front door and out of the building.

?~ ?~ ?~ ?~ ?~ ?

He was halfway to his favorite park when Xiah appeared right in front of him.

“I was wondering where you were. I thought you had to stay with me at all times~” Junsu asked with a smile as they sat on top of a picnic table. Xiah just stuck out his tongue.

“Had to stay around to survey the damage you left. You gave that asshole a hell of a black eye and Changmin gave him a matching one right after you left. Ah, the look on Yunho’s face when he realized that he wasn’t as slick as he thought…I won’t forget it, that’s for sure.” Xiah laughed and Junsu couldn’t help but let out a small laugh as well.

“Oh! And I forgot, I was also fulfilling my duty as helper to ‘Plans of Revenge’ by screwing with some things in his apartment. I think that completes the checklist of revenge!” Xiah smiled and leaned back on his hands. “All in one day too, I think that has to be a new record for me…,”

Junsu looked at him and Xiah just tilted his head.

“You’re reallllly not my inner self, are you?”

Xiah just smirked at him and put an arm around his shoulder.

“Just think of me as your imaginary conscious that appears in desperate times.”

“So you’re like my guardian angel then?” Junsu reasoned, but Xiah shoved him away and shivered.

“Don’t associate me with those people. I’m simply a friend who wants to help…and have a bit of fun while doing so.”

Junsu let himself laugh out loud at that. The two of them then sat in silence for a bit until Junsu heard his name being called. Looking at the path he came from, Yoochun waved as he made his way over. Junsu waved back and he snorted at Xiah’s sigh.

“Yoochun…don’t let him go, okay?” Xiah stated with a strange tone in his voice.

Junsu turned to reply, but Xiah was gone. He turned around in a full circle looking, but Xiah was nowhere in sight.

“Looking for something?” Yoochun asked as he finally reached Junsu’s table. Junsu opened his mouth and then closed it, shaking his head.

“No just…looking.” He looked up at Yoochun and mirrored the smile he saw. “And thinking. It’s been a long, eventful day, you know?”

Yoochun nodded. “To say the least. Well, I’m here to tell you that the mess has been cleared out and that Jaejoong has your favorite dinner ready so…Let’s go home?”

“Home…,” Junsu repeated and liked how the word meant a different place now, with new possibilities.

“Yeah, let’s go home.”

FIN.
