“Heechul, three bottles of absinthe?” Hangeng looked at Heechul, an eyebrow raised, even as he took three bottles off the shelf. Between them both there was already a scarily large amount of alcohol in their arms.

“Yes,” Heechul answered, in a voice that brooked no discussion on the subject; he asked for three, he wanted three, no one was going to talk him out of three.

“Why...so many?”

“I told you, I want to have some fun tonight. We deserve a break.” He turned and pushed another bottle of vodka into Hangeng's already full hands.

Hangeng, making a face, came up close to Heechul as he spoke. “I don't think evil is going to stop just so you can have a vacation.” His voice was soft, light, joking, but the weight sat there, unsaid, beneath Hangeng's words, and they could both feel it pushing down on their shoulders. Heechul could, now more than ever.

“I'm not asking for a vacation, but we are taking the night off,” he said, avoiding Hangeng's eyes; avoiding his implications. “I want to get thoroughly wasted. Besides, Donghae's bringing Siwon, and apparently Siwon's amazing when he's drunk. So,” and he held up one of the bottles of absinthe, “we're getting drunk tonight.”

Heechul began to move down the row of shelves again, inspecting anything he thought was interesting, and strong, and Hangeng followed alongside, trying not to drop anything. “What's with getting Siwon drunk, then? What does he do?”

“Donghae just said it's thoroughly embarrassing and thoroughly entertaining, and I want to witness this for myself.”

Hangeng, eyeing all the bottles between them, looked over at Heechul. “You don't think this is too much?”

“Trust me, this probably won't even be enough. And you're going to get drunk too, and have fun as well.” It was issued as a command, but there was a look on Heechul's face, just for a moment, a flash of remembered pain, a memory still close to the surface. He wouldn't speak about it, it wasn't Heechul's way, but sometimes, when he looked at Hangeng the feelings were clear to read in his eyes.

Hangeng nodded. He knew Heechul too well by now, he wasn't going to mention anything. “I'm still curious about this whole Siwon thing, though,” he added, begrudgingly accepting another bottle of alcohol from Heechul.

“We'll find that out later night,” Heechul said, grinning.

**

“Go,” Hangeng said, “I've got this!” And he vanished around the corner, leaving Heechul momentarily alone in the shadowed alley way.

Heechul, muttering to himself, held his wrist out, and pressed a tiny button on his watch. He hated when it was just two of them, hated when Hangeng went ahead on his own. As he pressed the button, he mumbled the words to go along with it; Donghae always shouted them out with enthusiasm, but as long as they were said, they got the job done.

“Captivating Transformation.”

A rush of sound and colour enveloped Heechul, and in seconds he was transformed. His trousers were form-fitting but comfortable, as was his shirt, and over top of this was now shining pieces of armour, covering particularly sensitive areas: legs, chest, shoulders, back, and a helm that covered only the top half of his face. It was all a shining red colour.

A cry of pain suddenly rent the air.

Quickly, Heechul went around the corner, making his way after Hangeng. They weren't far. He skidded to a stop, his mind trying to quickly assess the situation in front of him. Hangeng was on the floor. One hand was pressed to his side, and Heechul could see the blood. Above him stood the monster, this one had a camera for a head, and it's bulb was flashing wildly as it laughed; an eerie, high pitched sound that set the hair standing at the back of Heechul's neck.

Again, he wished it wasn't just the two of them, but Donghae's leg was still broken and there was nothing they could do.

He ran over to the monster, the words of an attack already flying from his mouth; he was practically shouting them. “Relentless Strike!” A flash of red lashed out at the monster, whipping it in it's solar plexus. The action was as angry as Heechul looked in that moment, and the monster, with a shriek, fell to the floor. Heechul was on it then, using hands and feet, throwing out random words, small attacks, at it, as he fell into a haze of anger and fear that he would later never admit to having felt.

“Heechul.” Hangeng's soft voice floated through the haze, gentle and pained. “Heechul, I don't think it's going anywhere now.”

And Heechul felt almost as if he was taking an actual step back, although it was all in his mind, as he suddenly found himself back in reality again, and looking at the monster at his feet. This one was most definitely defeated now.

“You can finish it off, and send it back,” Hangeng said, prompting Heechul into action again.

He pulled out a long, pen-like object, and aimed it at the monster. “By the signs of the Cosmos, I return you to that which you came. Never befoul our planet again.”

Red light burst forth, surrounded the monster in a glowing cocoon, and with a flash - and a final shriek from the monster, who knew it was never going to crawl it's way back to this planet again - the light and the monster both vanished.

They were alone, Heechul staring as Hangeng held both hands over his still bleeding wound.

**

It had been a close call, not all the scars left by that wound had been physical. Heechul wouldn't admit it, but seeing Hangeng so badly hurt had really shaken him up. Cuts, scrapes, bruises, and even broken bones, all three had had their fair share since this fight had begun, but none of them had been so badly injured before. And this was why Heechul was coming back with three bottles of absinthe, and various bottles of whiskey, vodka, and rum as well.

Donghae was already there, with Siwon, and they were in the living room laughing together, as he and Hangeng got the drinks sorted. They'd all recovered from their physical injuries by then, but there hadn't been a chance to just relax, unwind, let their hair down and let their minds recover. Tonight, it seemed, was a good time for that.

There was music playing, though god knew what it was, as Donghae had been in control of the stereo, when Heechul and Hangeng came into the room, a multitude of bottles and cups in hand.

“Here you go, Siwon,” Heechul said, sweetly, handing him a cup; he'd made sure it was fairly strong.

Siwon, with all the charm and ease he naturally possessed, smiled back, “Thanks, hyung.”

Siwon wasn't one of them, and Heechul was glad, because then they wouldn't be able to talk about 'work', and could just focus on the getting drunk part.

Which happened, to Heechul's amusement, as the evening went on and the drinks went down and the music got more and more terrible. He was having a great time.

“What does Siwon do when he's drunk?” Hangeng asked, after some time, leaning in towards Donghae to speak. Donghae, for his part, was pretty drunk, and pretty noisy. He'd already managed to lose half a pack of cards, whilst they were in the middle of playing some drinking games.

“Oh, that?” Donghae said, not bothering to lower his voice. “I think he's about to demonstrate this now.”

It seemed this was so, as Siwon was struggling to stand up after a conversation with Heechul, and suddenly began to sing, very loudly, very drunkenly, and in heavily accented English, a terribly cheesy love song. It wasn't even what was playing on the stereo in that moment, and the sounds of Siwon's drunken singing clashed appallingly with the old trot song that had suddenly come on.

Heechul, deeply amused, was laughing and clapping along as Siwon sang. “I hope,” he said, leaning in towards Hangeng, “that you're filming this. If this got out, his charming reputation would be forever tainted.”

Hangeng looked at him. “You're enjoying the idea of that far too much.”

“And you're not enjoying it enough.”

Heechul and Donghae, loudly, cheered Siwon on, but eventually the drunkenness took over and the words became a garbled, forgotten mess. Siwon dropped himself to the floor, laughing; he was so drunk by then.

“Oh, hyung,” Siwon said, his attention suddenly caught by something on the floor, and he reached over to pick it up, “this is cool.” He looked at it, as if it were the most amazing thing in the world.

“It's just a watch,” Donghae said, laughing at the look of intense fascination on Siwon's face.

“Yeah, but it's cool,” Siwon said, toying with it. He pressed at the little button on the side, and a flash of light suddenly filled the room.

Everyone stared, drunk and uncomprehending, as they tried to make sense of what was happening. Once they could see after the blinding flash of light had faded, it was not a sight any of them had expected to see.

There, on the floor, sat Siwon, completely transformed. His outfit and lightweight armour was a mix of black and white, his shoulder plates flared elegantly at the edges, and his shining helm covered half of his face.

Siwon, eyes wide and deeply confused, looked down at himself. The rest of them were equally shocked.

“What on earth,” Hangeng murmured.

“Hyung,” Siwon said, looking up at all three of them. “What happened to me? What is this?” he looked down again, tapping curiously at his shining white chest piece.

Well, this was the biggest surprise of the evening, no doubt.

Heechul leant forward and helped himself to another drink. A much needed drink.

“Donghae,” he said, pouring himself a generous amount. “it's your turn to explain.”
