fire watch - jonghyun/taeyeon - aulolliloveeeFebruary 20 2016, 06:11:25 UTC
man idk what im writing anymore. but i hope you like it. gah, i didnt even know this was going on again!
They could have been the fires that warm the insides of homes. They could have been the spark in fireworks and the steam in a cup of coffee. Instead, they were the forest fires, the ones that kill, die, and revive.
Jonghyun was someone who watched and she, she was something else. She stared blankly at everything and anyone. It was a fatal flaw someone would say. She felt something, he thinks. There was something about the way she smiled at him that kept him on his toes. The stars in her irises aligned and she was always going to stay with him. She cared. She loved him. He was a hopeless romantic. She still had other priorities, people, things to attend to. She started the fire. He added the gasoline. He asked too many questions to himself, dreamt how things could have been different, how they could have been right, if only they were right. Damn, if only they were right.
He loves her. He thinks. He assumes. He just wants answers and it rubs him the wrong way when his heart stutters again when she is in his field of vision. He can feel his heart get too fast and he stutters sometimes. He does not stutter. He is Jonghyun. Sometimes, their eyes meet and he swears, there is some kind of softness still there when he looks at them. Like there is still a sweetness he will only get to see. Like when she runs her fingers through her short white hair, he waits for her to whisper all those poems he's used to hearing, but then she looks away, laughs at someone's joke, and his heart loses its stagnance. Something leaves him breathless because he has never seen that beauty before. How did he miss this?
"Let's be friends," she says right after they break up. Except, her lips still is wine that he wants to get drunk to, it still bubbles when she speaks, and it still tastes so refreshing and it's just too soon for any of this. It's too early to pretend he isn't hurt. He doesn't say anything, he just throws a weak punch at her shoulder, hoping it's a sign that he isn't dying on the inside.
"Sure," he weakly replies. Sometimes, he wonders if it was okay to let her go like that. He wonders if he did the right thing. The hopeless in him says there was no avoiding it. The romantic in him said he should have ran after and tell her that this couldn't end like that. He's not sure how he wanted it to end. He's not sure if this was how everything goes down. It didn't disappear. There's still a plume of smoke telling him that it's still there. It's still alive.
It takes him too long to realize that she wanted to keep him safe. He concludes that she wants the best for him. He tries again and again to make himself sure that this was supposed to be like this. This was supposed to end. They are still going to be friends. He is happy. He is completely happy and he'll keep his promise. The promise to be himself, to stay himself and be happy. The fire burns and he stays at his tower.
He doesn't notice. She lays on his lap. She sighs defeatedly at the sky. They're in the park because Taeyeon finally has some time off ands asks first. She blows on a dandelion and he smiles. She is the last breath of heaven he can ever see. Her dark eyes seem so peaceful for once. His heart starts to burn. He hopes that she wishes for them to get back together. Her voice is beautiful like honey. The park is so bright and the sky is so blue. Then it happens again, the lack of oxygen. She looks so beautiful, so at ease, and so different from before.
How could he have ever missed that? No matter how closely he watches, there is always something he misses. He's not sure if he can see the plume of smoke anymore.

thank you so, so, so much for filling this? ;__; i am slowly breaking apart, this was such a lovely read? if we just, you know, ignore all the pangs of hurt it caused in my chest.
