The NGV in gray is nice, it makes you notice the difference of the end letter. I wouldn't have even noticed at first without that. The right column really helps distinguish the branches, Services, Fueling, Rentals...
I would just show these ideas to the client and see what they think. If you are getting paid for it, and they want you to do something like this, then go for it. They might even ask you to change some colors, which would mean more money for the work. I guess it depends on how you get paid.
1) I think the gradient looks really great with that particular design. 2) I like how the "natural gas vehicles ______" is in the darker shade at the bottom. It feels really integrated to me, so that the whole design includes the colors of the gradient logo bit. It's more sophisticated.
The only one of the grey shades that I like is the one on the green design. It's close to the color in value. I think there's too much contrast in the orange and purple designs. That's why I prefer the first column, I think.
ooh, it's very cool to see some of your work as well! i always felt crippled (?) professionally because i don't know how to use illustrator, and i was always intimidated by logo design, layout, typography and stuff. these look great! this might be a tad bit late, but i like the first column (on the left). the 4 logos feel like they have a stronger relationship to one another. and at the end of the day, isn't it all about relationships, kp? isn't it? =]
