NO.

I have a message to film directors everywhere.

STOP. PRODUCING. SEQUELS. STOP IT. NOW. RIGHT NOW.

Some movies indeed actually call for sequels or are set up that way, so their sequels are actually enjoyable/tie in with the story/etc. One or two random sequels in the history of mankind have been decent. But for FUCK'S SAKE, STOP MAKING SEQUELS TO MOVIES THAT DID NOT PROMISE/NEED/MERIT SEQUELS.

Take this, for example. You all know of my drooling over the movie National Treasure, because I am in love with American History, and that movie, and maybe sort of a little tiny bit Nicholas Cage (but Rielly, moreso). I just now noticed that under Yahoo!'s "most searched" movie choices was the sequel to National Treasure, this one being called National Treasure: The Book of Secrets. WHAT? Consequently I became SO ANGRY AND DECIDED TO WRITE THIS ENTRY, but also decided at the same time to look up the plot so that I could be even more disappointed.

It worked. FUCK.

The plot deals with the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, and 18 pages supposedly missing from one of John Wilkes Booth's diaries and conspiracy Lincoln blah blah.

FUCK.

Seriously. Leave Lincoln alone. I have known since fourth grade that it is my own destiny to write an award-winning story/movie/something that is historical fiction and is about him. You all know that my favorite--most beloved--most studied and adored period in history is the Civil War, with Lincoln at its center.

I don't know why this movie pisses me off so much. Fuck. I don't want to see it, because it's going to suck ASS because it's a goddamn SEQUEL to a movie that didn't need a SEQUEL in the first place. And I'm getting defensive of Lincoln. But then again I do want to see it, because I want to see where they take this and what they do with it.

ps: My roommate has fallen asleep in her bed with her boyfriend. I am sleeping on the sofa in our suite's common room tonight.

Oh yeah, and I'm done with finals. And freshman year. :-D

movies, fuck!, college
