Ooosh.
I
had such big plans for today. The weather is spectacular and I got a bunch of inside chores knocked down early, walked Lila over to play with her friend Fatou out back, then started cutting out the dead stuff in the perennial garden. When I grabbed the full buckets to walk over to the compost, with the plan to fill the wheelbarrow with bark mulch to start layering in around the plants, I stepped down off of the rise and my ankle went crunch. I mean seriously crunch with such a noise I thought for sure it was broken. I was upright one moment and flat on my back in agony the next.
It's just sprained and hurts like a muthafreaka to walk on it, mostly the stepping off part where my shin wants to lever above the ankle and forward. No thank you.
So much for getting a new lasagna bed started down by the mailbox. So much for taking a run. But one must remain flexible, so we're taking a quick trip to the library (Lila has been begging and I need a novel). I'm thinking the rest of the day will consist of me reading and writing with my foot elevated and under ice.
Thank goodness I made so much food yesterday. It's leftovers for dinner.
