Character

Name: Yellow of the Viridian Forest
Fandom: Pokemon Adventures AKA Pokemon Special
Gender: Female (appears male)
Age: 14
Time Period: Post-Emerald
Wing Color: The same yellow as her hair
History: Bulbapedia
Personality: Yellow is a very gentle and kind girl. While she's a little shy and can be timid, when a situation gets more serious, she's able to maintain a calm and control over her timidity - namely because she has a reason to be strong, be it a friend that she's worried about or just someone who needs assistance. She avoids confrontation and is a strong pacifist, likely attributed to the fact that she can hear the agony of even the most fearsome or the smallest creautres in pain and has such high empathy with others that she can't help but show concern for them and try to alleviate their discomfort. As such, she's a very helpful person, going out of her way to help those in need and going above and beyond to protect the people important to her. Should her friends be in trouble, she will even forgo her pacifistic beliefs to try and save them. Of course, when the situation is less dire, Yellow tends to be a little bit... awkward. Not that she doesn't try - lord knows she tries, but sometimes she's just too naive or things just fly over her head. And while this can be endearing, she can't help but feel awkward and uncomfortable when she's unable to understand what's being told to her, or if she has a moment of ignorance. Even worse than being humiliated, of course, is upsetting or frustrating people, and Yellow can't stand that either, and does her very best not to bother others too much. She's very creative and able to think on her feet, however, and spends her free time either by getting creative with her fishing or her drawing, depending on what's available to her. She's not necessarily stubborn, as she usually goes out of her way to bend over backwards for others, but she can be very determined at times when she has a goal set in mind, even if she's reprimanded or laughed at for the said goal. All-in-all, Yellow is a pretty simple person as far as personality goes - what you see is what you get, and there isn't a secret to be had in this girl. Even if she had a secret of her own, there's a good chance other people would know it because she's a terrible liar. She's almost painfully naive, to the point where she automatically assumes the best in people. But don't be fooled - if a friend confides in her for something personal and private to them, not a word will be told to anyone about it. What Yellow lacks in depth she makes up for in pure honesty and trustworthiness, and her earnest nature is what drives her to accomplish as much as possible despite her age (and looking significantly younger still).

Strengths: Yellow is capable of reading the minds of pokemon (and by extent animals, I would assume, as pokemon seem to be little more than wild animals with special powers), and is able to grasp their thoughts, their memories and their emotions and single each out as needed. Hand-in-hand with this ability is a very limited telekinesis, to the point she can manipulate a ball on a string. But her most used skill is her healing ability, where a simple touch heals up wounds. In canon, it's only seen used on pokemon, but for luceti she'll be able to use it for less severe wounds on humans (bruises, cuts, upset stomachs, etc). Giant holes in someone's body, however, she won't be able to fix with her powers without collapsing from the energy spent doing so. She has a very strong mental and emotional resolve, especially when she pulls up the determination to really make a difference where it counts. She has unwavering trust in her friends, and for the most part, trusts people in general to be mostly trustworthy. Yellow may not be the most intellectual person, but she has a very strong intuition and she has a very strong moral code. She's strategically very flexible in battle, able to work around her usual self-limitation of avoiding violence.

Weaknesses: Yellow has a variety of little weaknesses, physical and mental alike. Her most obvious weakness is that she's extremely pacifistic, and engages in fighting ONLY if people will be saved by it, and even then she likes to fight in ways that disable the opponent with minimal injuries on either side. She is also painfully naive and at some points, she has a rather childish mindset (though she can't ever really be described as bratty). Any of her special abilities, however, prove the greatest weakness, because they expend so much of her energy that she passes out and sleeps until it's restored, in some cases even falling asleep in the middle of battle because of it. Though Yellow can be flexible in battle, in most senses she's not a very smart person. It can be considered unfair to judge her on her intelligence, as she lives her life more on her emotions than her intelligence. This, too, can be considered a weakness, because she invests herself so wholeheartedly in something that the moment it changes or takes an unexpected turn (not even always for the worst), she's often shocked and saddened (especially when she was younger, where she actually cried when her pokemon evolved).

Samples

First Person: Ah... I was exploring for a while, but...

This place really isn't a dream, is it? Um... does anyone know where I am? Can someone tell me?

And has anyone seen my pokemon...? I can sketch them if I have to. Their names are Ratty, Dody, Chuchu, Omny, Gravvy, and Kitty.

What's this place called? ... Is anyone I know here?

Third Person: She had only sat down for a little while, to nap. Such was normal for Yellow, to fall asleep in Viridian Forest, with Chuchu snoozing on her lap. And she woke to the shifting leaves opening slightly, shining the sunlight right in her face. This, too, was normal.

What was odd was the subtle difference in the trees. They didn't look normal... they weren't the same species, their leaves and trunks were all subtly different. And the forest itself didn't feel quite as alive. As she sat up to look at herself, finding that she was in a small white sundress, and with a pain in her back, she found wings on her back.

She didn't panic, though. It was a dream, right? That's the most reasonable explanation. So instead of panicking, she stood and wandered the forest idly, navigating it with ease. Everything was so vivid, but at the same time, so muted. The sounds, the smells, the textures... the life itself was strange. Small. Different. The forest wasn't whispering to her in the subtle way it once did. She stopped in a clearing, resting her hand on a tree trunk. She could hear the life in it - the quiet hum, so subtle and subdued. The trees were so much quieter... or maybe, her touch and hearing were numbed. She pondered... which was it? Everything seemed a little number, and even colors seemed to be drained a little. It was strange, not seeing the life as much. She plucked a leaf from the tree, trying to whistle and summon Dody. She waited for a while, repeating the whistle, until it was clear that her pokemon weren't in the area.

Yellow eventually found the village, blinking curiously at the scene. What a curious place... was this Kanto? Johto? It didn't seem like either. It wasn't hot enough to be Hoenn. And the way people dressed... was she overseas? Rather than panicking, as most people would, Yellow began to investigate, very curious about her change of scenery.

Panic would come later, when Yellow would learn later that this wasn't at all a dream.
