During a power outage at a local electronics store, the sales staff had to write out receipts by hand. Alas, there was only one calculator for all the counters to share (which was silly, as this store SELLS cheap calculators).
I was in line to buy 2 blank videotapes, which would have been just over $2 after tax. The clerk I had was trying to train another clerk, neither of whom knew:
A: Where the lone calculator was
B: That the reason said calculator, once found, didn’t work is it needs to be aimed TOWARDS the skylight to work.
C: How to use a calculator
I was so tempted to just leave $2.17 so I could leave. It would have taken less time to calculate the cost by hand …
