So, first thing, before I forget, I emailed Stephanie from school today to catch up and found out she's due with a baby boy in 3 months! How awesome and scary is that all at the same time?!??!! I had not talked to her for almost 2 years, but thought of her because we're trying to recruit someone for my group at work. (Bill Denney, how's that whole grad school thing still workin out for you?) She is still working at Law but has not decided whether she will go back after the baby gets here.
Now for an update on me...On Sunday, newly depressed because our best FW friends moved on wednesday, Clyde and I bought a 50" widescreen DLP TV (read: really effing expensive). After purchasing said TV, we decided we needed a new entertainment center to house it in, so we went and bought one of those, too. We got home, unloaded both items and opened up the 2 (yes 2) boxes that the entertainment center came in to discover that it had been sold before and returned and that it was missing parts. But, the parts weren't big or expensive, so since Lowe's is about 15 minutes closer than Best Buy (where we bought the thing), I went to Lowe's to get them. I bring them home and Clyde begins to put the thing together. Then he realizes he's got 2 right sides and no left side. At this point, it's 6:00 and we are starting to really get pissed off. So, since the boxes were no longer usable, having been opened by us for the second time, we threw all the pieces in the back of the truck and Clyde took the thing back. The manager at BB didn't want to take it back. Clyde had to threaten to cancel the payment through visa before he reluctantly gave him the money back. My favorite thing the manager said was that he couldn't sell the thing in the condition in which we returned it, to which Clyde replied that he shouldn't have sold it to us. Then the manager tried to say that if he took it back, he'd be out $600, to which Clyde replied, better you than us. Well, they didn't have another of the entertainment center we wanted, so Clyde came home empty handed at 7:30 and we decided to set the TV on a table for the time being and hook up our new cool toy. Well, at 8:30 the TV still wasn't working. Somehow, the lamp burnt out between the store and our house. So we returned the TV on Monday, but it was a good thing because after sleeping on it, we decided we didn't need anything that big, expensive, or fancy, so we kept our old TV in the family room and bought a 20" TV for the other room. But wait, the story doesn't stop here...we still wanted a new entertainment center, so after returning the TV on Monday, we spent 4 hours fighting with each other over entertainment centers and not being able to decide on anything. Then we came home to find our door wide open...so we called the cops because we thought we'd been broken into. Come to find out, we left the door open when we carried the big-ass TV out to the truck Monday morning in the rain and we were in such a hurry to get into the truck and out of the rain that we never went back to shut or lock it. We were really fortunate that none of our stuff was taken!! Thank goodness it was raining that day, because on a normal day we have all kinds of strangers in and out of the subdivision due to construction. A few weeks ago, our neighbors had a trailer with a golf cart on it stolen out of their driveway in broad daylight on a Sunday afternoon. Anyways, that's my update, now it's y'all's turn!
Oh, PS, I got the new Harry Potter DVD last night, hooray!
