so...not a happy camper. The funny thing is that I expected it. I'm really ocd about print jobs and presentation stuff, and from my personal experience, employees at kinkos/office depot...worthless. You're better off pushing them aside, and printing and trimming things yourself.

So like I said before, I wanted to get my portfolio printed out and spiral bound, and I was weary of depending on said people at said places, because I've heard/read that they ALWAYS screw up somehow on portfolio/printing/binding you name it.

So I took my thumb drive and pdf's to office depot, because my friend works at an office depot, not the one I went to, but he made everything sound so easy so I thought I'd give it a shot. I gave simple instructions to one of the ladies there. Print out a booklet on 8.5x11 paper, trim it down to 9x7. I even had a 9x7 box surrounding the content on each page, so its 4 cuts, 1 on each side. Then I wanted a clear cover, backing, and a spiral bind.

Sounds simple enough? Right away they run into pdf problems, like they cant print to actual size so its like blown up say 5% bigger etc. So some of my images are like slightly larger and pixelated! yuck! they had already printed it all out, and it didn't look bad so I was like whatever I'll let it pass. I notice on some pages, some letters didn't print. And she told me one pdf wouldn't print, I let that pass as well. I don't know, I'm probably nitpicking a lot, but if it was any other day I'd probably go back and complain, but right now I just want to turn it in and be done with it.

The employees were all in a bad mood with the whole "I've been here since 7 in the morning" line, and it took long enough to get the booklet printed, I was just like screw it. She gave me a semi discount because she didn't feel like counting how many pages I printed. Whatev.

Here's some shots. Including the obvious "ouse+housing" misprint.
