Most horrifying pony-cleaning experience ever...

Sep 30, 2009 10:59

Finally have enough bookcases to start unboxing all of the ponies, so I'm going through and giving all of the ponies a light cleaning (minimal) before putting them out. Now, I use toothpaste and a very soft toothbrush, which has never caused a problem with So-Softs before. But as I'm cleaning Truly -- my VERY NEAR MINT Truly -- her flocking starts to just *melt* off.

No, not tiny rubs.

Not ear tips or noses or bottoms of the hooves.

Like the entire leg is suddenly very nearly deflocked -- only the GLUE is left.

O.O

After getting over the horror of this happening, I realize she's so far gone that I may as well finish the job and deflock her completely and get another one.

Still, I have NEVER seen that happen before. And it isn't the first time that I washed her.

I'm just glad it wasn't Crumpet or Twilight. (Who are already washed.)
