But really, I just hate when people inappropriately label themselves. 'I'm a linguist because I speak three languages!' NO. YOU'RE NOT. You're what's called a POLYGLOT. A speaker of many languages. I am a Linguist. Why? Because I can drone about SVO, VSO, Turkish Vowel Harmony, Romani languages, and the difference between /t/, /d/, /θ/, and /∂/. STFU. POLYGLOT =/= LINGUIST.
In that same vein, 'I guess you could say I'm an amateur sociologist.' NO. YOU'RE NOT. YOU'RE JUST SOMEONE WHO LIKES TO OBSERVE PEOPLE IN GROUPS. Can you talk about Sociological theory? The type of individuals which join social movements or cults? Group think? Anything? NO. SHUT UP. WRITERS AREN'T EVERYTHING BY VIRTUE OF BEING A WRITER. THEY'RE WRITERS. STOPPIT.
