1: Paul Simon: The Cool, Cool River
There was a persistent clack-tic in the cavernous stone hall. The business leaders and heads state stared down at the figure that walked through the hushed crowd. The blonde curls moved in time to the noise of the expensive heels.
She stopped in front the great chair of Mrogg. The Chairman rumbled to its many feet, a personal declaration of war ready to burst on its lips.
The woman parted her formal robe to reveal the chalice of Mrogg; the assembly took a collected breath.
‘No need to thank me, sweetie. ’ River Song blew The Chairman an irreligious kiss.
2: Bill Evans: The Dolphin- Before
Ace poked at her Jacket sulkily as the Doctor’s head nodded in time to the piano.
‘Come off it Professor, he’s no Courtney Pine.’
‘Oh come now, Ace. Surely by now you must have grasped that certain intricacies of life can only be expressed in the medium for which they were created?’ He didn’t look at her but she could tell from the wrinkles round his eyes that he was up to something.
‘Oh great, what is it this time? Giant piano eating monsters in 70s New York?’
‘Would you believe Aquatic Aliens in pressurised battle suits?’ The Doctor pointed...
3: Dido: Us Two Little Gods
Rory and Amy ran for their lives. The noise and bustle behind them was only the symptom of the problem. The screaming of the alarm, the thundering of footsteps.
Rory’s head pounded as the blood rushed through his ears. He smiled nervously at the determined Amy. She allowed herself a grin at his hopeful expression.
‘Where are we going?’ Rory yelled.
‘I don’t know. Running away!’ Amy explained breathlessly.
‘I can’t run away, I’ll be late for school!’ he panicked. At that moment Mr Henderson stepped out in front of the children and brought the adventure to an untimely close.
4: David Rose Orchestra - The Stripper
Jack new there was little time. With a cry of fury he tore at the fabric of his shirt, hands already steaming as the creature’s vomit began to burn the fibres from him. In the flickering light he struggled free of his trousers and retrieved his Webley from the belt. It took a careful aim to reach across the club and shatter the controls of the cage.
Light flooded the startled partygoers as the rest of Torchwood burst in, guns drawn.
‘Can’t you keep your clothes on for a change?’ Owen muttered.
‘Can’t take him anywhere.’ Gwen grinned in appreciation.
5: Bat for Lashes: Peace of Mind
Tegan and Adric circled the smoking pyre warily. The Doctor was peering him around it intensely, curiosity written large. Nyssa called to them from the ledge above.
‘Everything’s much clearer up here.’
‘Onwards and upwards!’ the Doctor motioned after her with a smile. Adric scrambled for the ladder but Tegan scowled.
‘Are you sure that’s a good idea, the TARDIS is this way!’
‘If we go back now we’ll never know what happened to this poor chap’
‘He died and was set on fire!’ she argued. He looked at her darkly,
‘Not the other way round, if he was lucky’
6: John Barry: Teasing the Korean (from Goldfinger)
Clyde Langer stole his way along the gantry in the twilight. He could see Rani ahead of him, still bristling with an unearthly glow. He hissed her name as she reached the Pharos control office and saw her turn, blistering arcs of ethereal energy racing towards him from her outstretched palm. He dove away and for just a moment, as he hit the ground, he glimpsed his Rani, the real one, blinking in confusion. Then she turned back to the doorway. Hair flailing, the glow surged around her into the complex. He stood, wincing, and crept after her once more.
7: Munich Concert Pop Orchestra: Doodle
Ian and Barbara laughed in the easy sunshine of the alien world. The Doctor frowned at them for disturbing the local fauna but Susan giggled and took his arm.
‘Oh grandfather, it makes a change for them, not to be in mortal danger after recent adventures’
‘Is that what you’re calling them now hmm? Adventures indeed!’
‘Would you prefer escapades, Doctor?’ Ian teased gently. Barbara punched him in the arm and led him away through the forest, trailed by the delicate flowers and a distinct air of calm.
‘Good to see that not all the universe is filled with evil.’
8: Art Garfunkel: I Remember You
The Doctor swung Bessie into his parking space and stormed through UNIT HQ, cloak flapping. There was a smell of burning wax coming from his lab and he feared the worst. Sergeant Benton stood bashfully just outside the doors, pushing them open as the time lord approached. A table waited, elegant meal prepared with two places. A card in Jo’s familiar scrawl, her photo sat in the other chair.
‘What is all this, Sergeant?’
‘Orders from Miss Grant, I’m not allowed to let you forget her Sir’
‘As if I could!’ He raised the wine glass to his absent friend.
9: Jethro Tull: My Sunday Feeling
Is it always like this?’ Rose gasped as they haired around the streets, short of breath but exhilarated.
‘Sorta, not that long ago I took a day off, put my feet up, drank tea, listened to jazz, read a couple of books.’ The Doctor grinned manically at her, swerving to avoid a lady with a buggy, glancing his heavy leather coat off Rose’s arm.
’Yeah? How’d that turn out?’ she called as they ducked fence and pelted toward the TARDIS.
‘Oh, y’know, ended up running for my life.’ He admitted. Rose groaned.
‘Don’t spose you got an Asprin in there?’
10: Bernard Hermann: The House (from North by Northwest)
Peri hid behind Leela as the darkness encroached along the corridor. Behind, their respective Doctor’s yelled colourfully at each other as they worked to release the blast door.
‘It’s getting closer!’ she called back to them.
‘Do not worry, when the time comes we will die like warriors.’ Leela whispered to her, drawing her knife.
‘Oh jeez, that’s not very reassuring y’know.’
‘Got YOU!’ Peri’s Dr boomed.
‘What! You’d still be in the dark if it wasn’t for me! ‘Peri ran between them through the now open door.
‘You still will if you don’t run!’ she screamed as she passed.
