So... I need donations so I don't get evicted.
Yep. I didn't want to post this here because I'm never on LJ anymore (due to lack of internet and free time) and it feels sort of weird to ask this when I haven't been using this journal/site in a while. But. That being said. My twin sister siriuslyyellow and I are in very real danger of being evicted. Our jobs cut back hours, pay, and benefits to save money, so we've been making less than usual, and then our rent went up. We need to collect $3,500 by the end of September (October 3rd is our court date, so we can bring a check with us if all else fails) in order to keep our home.
We don't have any way of collecting this money. We can't go back to our mom's house because she doesn't have one anymore--she's renting a room at somebody else's house. Already asked if we could stay with her. She said no. Unsurprising given our history, but still utterly disappointing. My sister, Sarah, and I don't have anywhere to go. No friends have room in their places. The local shelter just released a report about a string of sexual assaults happening there, so we can't go there. We don't have a car we can sleep in, if it got to that point. Besides a car, we also don't have cable tv, internet, a house phone, or any means of transportation (besides the bus/train). We've cut out everything in our lives that costs extra money, and still we're not making enough. We're both in the process of getting second jobs to cover expenses (she's a bit closer to getting hired than I am, but it's still close), so we think we'll be okay if we can just somehow avoid getting evicted until then. The main problem is we have back rent that we can't pay, and it keeps collecting late fees, and the late fees collect late fees, and we've squirmed around this for just over a year but now we've reached the limit.
It's an awful situation, and I am well aware most people are not financially stable enough to offer a lot of help. But here's the thing. Even the smallest donation helps. $1, $5, $10--whatever you can give, it will all add up. We've got $280 so far, but we really need more. We have two days to get this done, and at the absolute latest maybe we can give them the check on the 3rd. But that's it.
So please, please, PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING! I know it's annoying to ask, but we really are desperate, and posting the link on twitter, tumblr, and FB hasn't been much use.
